Due to continued growth and increasing scope of works, Whittens are actively recruiting for a Motor Mechanic/ Serviceman to commence on our projects across WA. As a Motor Mechanic/ Serviceman you will be responsible for the following:

- Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and parts
- Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts
- Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as needed
- Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations
- Reassembling engines and parts after being repaired
- Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance
- Diagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computers
- May inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or detail work required to achieve roadworthiness
- May respond to vehicle breakdown service calls

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or Certificate IV in Motor Mechanics
- At least five years’ experience as a Motor Mechanic/ Serviceman in the civil construction/ mining industry
- Extensive mechanical repair experience with heavy machinery and mobile plant including Excavators, Dozers, Graders, Water Carts, and Loaders (Komatsu, CAT and Hitachi)
- Field service and repair experience
- Ability to work and seek opportunities without continuous direction from supervisor
- Effective time management and attention to detail
- Current Australia Drivers License with class HR
- Troubleshooting, diagnostic and preventative maintenance skills
- Must have a positive attitude with a strong safety focus

We are currently recruiting a Training Manager to oversee and manage training within the organisation. Reporting to the Executive HSE Manager, the role will be responsible for oversight and support of operational training requirements; leading selected learning and development initiatives, inclusive of the development and delivery of training packages; and overseeing the continuous improvement of the training management system.

ABOUT THE ROLE
• Completion of pre-contract training documentation that requires technical training knowledge and experience e.g. Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and Training Management Plan
• Manage the training start-up process for new projects including reviewing project specific training documentation and embedding into project documentation, develop project specific training startup checklists, facilitating kick-off and subsequent start-up meetings, and lead and support project teams for an effective mobilisation
• Assist as required with the completion of training deliverables/ requirements e.g. TNAs, training matrices
• Coach project teams on project specific training requirements to ensure understanding and compliance
• As required, visit sites and conduct verification of competency (VOC) assessments as per the Company requirements, project specific TNA and Training Management Plan
• Manage and oversee the implementation and set-up of the Company training database – Competency, including delivery of training sessions
• Oversight of project and company training compliance and performance
• Conduct internal Training Audits
• Act as the conduit between Whittens Group and our affiliated RTO to enable Whittens to develop and deliver Nationally Accredited Training Courses
• Develop internal training material and manage all facets of the delivery of selected training packages/ courses remotely/ on-site and in Head Office
• Identify areas for improvement within training and incorporate them into the HSE Strategic Plans.

ABOUT YOU

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in HSE or Training role within the Civil construction industry
• Demonstrated experience working in operational HSE/T role
• Experience in providing support and coaching project teams, including site HSE personnel, to successfully implement the HSE requirements for site
• Advanced Diploma in OSH (minimum) and a Cert IV in Training & Assessment (TAE)
• Construction Induction Training (White Card)
• Ability to form effective working relationships with all levels of the organisation demonstrated ability to show initiative in identifying continuous improvement in training
• Ability to travel to national sites as required

Your Opportunity
Whittens are growing and currently looking for Civil Project Engineers with a background in multidisciplined construction projects (Earthworks, Concrete, Piping and Roads) to join our teams, mainly working on 2/1 FIFO rosters from Perth, Brisbane or Sydney.

Reporting to the Project Manager, your primary responsibilities will be to provide engineering functional leadership and project engineering services, enabling the project to be delivered safely, profitably and in accordance with the client’s contractual, technical and quality requirements.

As the Project Engineer, you will be accountable for:

· Interpreting specifications, draft and maintain drawings and plans, construction methods and procedures
· Researching and advising on the best engineering solution to meet project needs and budget
· Providing support to the Project Manager, Construction Manager and wider Project team
· Comprehensive understanding of the scope of work, specifications, work plans and drawings
· Developing detailed work programs for allocated work packages
· Managing scope of work, equipment and materials, and ensure compliance
· Identifying variations in work packages and submitting list for review by Construction Manager
· Pro-actively manage costs within your control, to ensure project delivery within budget
· Developing margin improvement strategies in conjunction with the Project Manager and teams
· Preparing Project Specific Quality Management Plans and obtain approval from the Client
· Ensuring the requirements of the quality management plan are effectively implemented to meet project requirements
· Allocating responsibility to staff to perform the QA/QC inspections and duties as defined in the project quality plan and related procedures
· Ensuring familiarity of team members with the quality assurance manual, procedures, ITPs, test methods & reporting requirements
· Developing Project specific Construction Management Plans and get the same approved by the client
· Preparing and reviewing internal ITPs, forms & checklists for approval by Client

To be successful, you will have the following:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Post Graduate qualifications advantageous)
• Experience working in a FIFO / DIDO capacity
• At least 5 years demonstrated experience with experience in delivering Concrete, Civil and Earthworks projects
• Proven forecasting and budget management, EOM Process, Cost Tracking skills
• Construction Induction Training (White Card)

Your Opportunity
We are currently seeking applications from experienced surveying professionals that have a proven background in concrete, civil and earthworks projects to join us as FIFO Surveyors or Senior FIFO Surveyors working on a 2/1 rosters to our projects in WA and across Australia.

Reporting to the Project Manager, this role is primarily responsible for project surveying requirements efficiently and effectively meeting client, SHEC, time, budget, contractual, legislative & regulatory requirements.

As Surveyor, you will be accountable for:
• Providing high quality, accurate and timely surveying advice, and solutions, that meet project needs
• Ensuring works are accurately surveyed and clear and concise set out is provided in accordance with the project standard survey procedures and with the contract drawings, including set out and WAE surveys
• Providing accurate and complete calculations and data processing
• Maintaining ‘as built' drawings in conjunction with Site/QA Engineer
• Delivering project outcomes to client expectations within project timeframes and on budget

To be successful, you will have the following:
• Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering or similar qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in surveying with proven longevity in a project environment working construction hours
• Construction Induction Training (White Card)
• Confidence and ability to manage survey projects and liaise with clients
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• Leica survey instruments experience is highly desirable
• Civil 3D / 12D Software experience is highly desirable
• Completion of Apply Risk Management Process is desirable
• Completion of Conduct Safety and Health Investigations is desirable
