Applications are invited for a post in the Orthopaedic Department at the Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells Trust. The Orthopaedic Department is expanding with the planned opening of the new Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre at Maidstone Hospital, that will provide elective orthopaedic services to the population of Kent and Medway.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two full time Assistant Patient Pathway Coordinator within the Trauma and Orthopaedic department

This is a busy, varied and challenging role where you will be specialising in our Adult Orthopaedic Service. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and booking outpatient clinics.

The post holder will also be responsible for booking Orthopaedic plaster room clinics at both Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells; which will require the need for some cross site working throughout the month

Essential skills for this role include an excellent telephone manner, working using own initiative, excellent communication with patients and clinical staff, outstanding organisation and time management and competent in using Microsoft Office packages with good keyboard skills.

The role can be based at either Maidstone or Tunbridge Wells as we have Orthopaedic admin teams at both sites, however cross site working will be required throughout the month due to the nature of some of the admin tasks

You will have excellent communication, organisation and problem solving skills with the ability to work with a positive and solution focused attitude, to ensure clinics are booked effectively and patients are managed appropriately along their pathway.

Clinic appointments and knowledge of patient waiting lists would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided.

Applicants will ideally have previous NHS or healthcare experience (though this is not necessary) and administration experience. Knowledge of systems such as Allscripts and Medirota would be beneficial though training will be given.

This post forms part of the new Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre team at Maidstone Hospital. Over 200 new posts will support the new Centre, which is part of a national scheme to deliver more than 50 new surgical hubs across England. The new Centre will open in spring 2024 and treat patients from across the region, increasing the Trust’s capacity for planned surgical procedures.

The Centre will contain the latest novel open plan laminar flow theatres; open-plan surgical areas where up to three patients are treated in a dedicated space with a specialised air canopy over each station to prevent the spread of infection. The new facility will also include a 14-bed inpatient ward and a 10-bed day case ward, with recovery, x-ray and therapy space, all within a dedicated elective building.

The Centre will expand orthopaedic surgical capacity across Kent and Medway, playing an important part in elective recovery and the reduction of patient waiting times across the region.

The Lead Nurse for Falls Prevention is a senior member of the Corporate Nursing Team, providing professional leadership and vision to minimizing therisks of harm and management of falls incidents. The post holder:
• Will be the operational lead for the development of the falls service.
• Manages and provides leadership to the Moving and Handling Advisor
• Works as an autonomous practitioner, delivering and effectively coordinating an expert service for the prevention and management of falls.
• Provides specialist clinical advice, and education for staff and patients requiring input who have fallen or at risk of falling.
• Ensures that patients and their families are fully informed and supported in the management of fall incidents and the impact of treatments, which may increase their risk of falling and how to minimise the risks.
• Leads the development of evidence based clinical practice in line with current research and guidelines
• Liaises with the external Moving and Handling training providers and support the monitoring of this contract.
• Establishes clear lines of communication with primary healthcare teams in order to increase knowledge and facilitate the care of this group of people discharged into the community.
• Provides expert advice to procurement in relation to falls equipment.

This role requires you to have a good understanding of the technical nature of food production, as well as quality checks and people management. Responsible for the planning, design and delivery of a range of leadership and management staff training programmes as identified by the Trust and aligned to the NHS People Promise including the MTW Exceptional Leaders for All programmes. We are keen to appoint 1 enthusiastic and committed Neonatologist to join the team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. The post is a fixed term post for 6 month initially.

We are level 2 NNU and around 6000 deliveries in a year.





To provide a high standard of care to any patient for whom you have clinical responsibility. The Department of Paediatrics offers a wide range of general services to children, as well as a number of specialist paediatric services, many of which are shared care services in association with tertiary centres. Paediatric oncology services are provided on a shared care basis with London centres, particularly the Royal Marsden, our Trust being recognised as a paediatric oncology shared care unit (POSCU). Neonatal unit have 3 intensive care cots., 8 high dependency, 1isolation cot and 6 SCBU cots with very busy transitional care mainly supervised by midwives. We also support 2 birthing centres one at Maidstone Hospital and other at Crowborough but there is no direct clinical commitment on these sites.

The Freedom to Speak Up Guardian (FTSUG) is responsible for developing, implementing and leading on the Trusts vision and strategy for speaking up. We have designed this new role to provide leadership for the Dietetic Stroke Team and to develop an education and preceptorship programme for students, apprentices, newly qualified staff and oversea recruits. You will work as an integral member of the stroke multidisciplinary team assessing, advising, managing and rehabilitating patients with complex nutritional and social needs. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Haematology team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells, as a full-time Medical Secretary. This post may require some cross site working between Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

This role will provide secretarial and administrative support to a range of clinical staff, working alongside them to benefit our patients and make their experience the best it can be.

This post forms part of the new Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre team at Maidstone Hospital. Over 200 new posts will support the new Centre, which is part of a national scheme to deliver more than 50 new surgical hubs across England. The new Centre will open in spring 2024 and treat patients from across the region, increasing the Trust’s capacity for planned surgical procedures.

The Centre will contain the latest novel open plan laminar flow theatres; open-plan surgical areas where up to three patients are treated in a dedicated space with a specialised air canopy over each station to prevent the spread of infection. The new facility will also include a 14-bed inpatient ward and a 10-bed day case ward, with recovery, x-ray and therapy space, all within a dedicated elective building.

The Centre will expand orthopaedic surgical capacity across Kent and Medway, playing an important part in elective recovery and the reduction of patient waiting times across the region.
