Position Summary:
Manages a caseload of new patients who are in need of Diabetes equipment and supplies as prescribed by their physician. The representative primarily makes outbound calls to patients and provides product information, informs on disease state implications, answers general questions discuss the cost and insurance plan coverage, and explains the new intake process to set a proper expectation for timing and responsibility for processing. Does interact with manufacturer counterparts on patient specifics, which leads to relationship development and enhancement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Reviews all new referrals to Byram Healthcare for diabetes supplies.
• Verifies relevant demographics, insurance information, and products with patients.
• Reviews cost and coverage for products with patients as applicable.
• Manages assigned patients through medical records retrieval requests, prior authorization submissions, and shipments processes.
• Ensures patients meet all insurance criteria for specific insulin pumps being ordered. Completes benefits verification and eligibility checks with insurance plan providers.
• Accurately selects correct product and catalog codes, and billing and insurance information. Charts all calls and notes in the patient’s record, thoroughly documenting performed activities in internal records systems as part of the onboarding process.
• Maintains consistent communications with manufacturer partners on relevant intake and equipment issues. Submits relevant and authorized patient requests and information to provider offices to initiate service.
• Provides outstanding customer service to patients throughout the new intake process.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of healthcare industry experience (highly preferred)
• DME(Durable Medical Equipment) experience(Required)
• Familiarity with basic medical terminology and payer/insurance processing and plans(required)
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP, Salesforce
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Able to cope with heavy telephone and computer use
• Excellent telephone customer service skills
• Knowledge and familiarity with medical terminology
• Knowledge of payer/insurance processing and plans
• DME(Durable Medical Equipment) knowledge(Preferred)
