Meaningful Work From Day One
This position reports to the US-based VP and Associate General Counsel, Regional & Corporate Development with responsibility for, sales, and general commercial matters relating to BF’s business in Asia and ANZPI.
What You Can Expect
Commercial Support. Negotiate, review, analyze and/or draft commercial contracts with customers, distributors and vendors in the region.. Assist with the contract administration (including renewal tracking), management and filing.
Corporate Maintenance. Corporate maintenance of our companies throughout the region in close collaboration with the finance and tax departments. Drafting and tracking various intercompany agreements and arrangements.
Privacy. Support a culture of privacy internally, including engaging with and motivating diverse stakeholders at all levels. Assist with the setting-up of privacy processes within the region, drive their execution, coordinate the embedding of data privacy into the relevant operations across their entities and ensure that these entities have complete and up-to-date records necessary to demonstrate consistency with local privacy laws.
Compliance. Contribute to existing strong compliance culture by assisting with compliance-related training with respect to, among others, competition law, anti-bribery and privacy and implementing compliance-related policies, processes, procedures and controls.
Managing Outside Counsel. Supporting the process of engaging and managing outside counsel in the region.
General Legal Support and other responsibilities. Provide day-to-day commercial legal support, business focused advice, and counsel to the sales and procurement organization. Effectively communicate legal concepts to stakeholders in collaboration with and with support from other members of the legal team. Support the continuous improvement of standard agreements, policies and processes. Legal operations development and project management. Anticipate changes to, and advise on, relevant laws impacting our activities and customers. Other legal tasks as needed.
Travel: this role will require traveling (15-25%)
What You Bring to the Table
Juris Doctorate, top tier law school
Minimum 5 years legal experience, inclusive of required apprentice level;
Experience as a lawyer in a firm and/or corporation in the Region working on commercial and regulatory matters for consumer products;
Willingness to travel in the region and periodically to Louisville, KY;
Strong business acumen and ability to spot business issues and offer timely, practical legal solutions;
Ability to self-start, work independently and efficiently; Strong collaboration and consensus-building skills and the ability to communicate in English clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing;
Experience handling multiple tasks and multiple clients; and
Experience with compliance, preferably in the beverage alcohol industry, as well as corporate and regulatory compliance (e.g., anti-corruption).
