About the role - What you need to know
Reporting to the Head of Propositions and working with the Propositions Managers and Product Governance Manager, you’ll be a key player in the future success of AIG Life, helping to bring innovative new propositions to market that shape the future of our industry.
You’ll have responsibility for keeping an eye on the competition, delivering and maintaining a portfolio of propositions and supporting proposition development ideas that have the capacity to transform the market as well as do the right thing for our customers. Managing our propositions to market across the business also means you’ll have a proven ability to build effective relationships.
You’ll also do your share of managing AIG Life’s product review process and managing the relationship and information held on 3rd party comparison sites. That’s where your attention to detail comes in.
Key responsibilities include:
Support and lead the development of new and existing protection products / propositions through each phase of the product development process - including the initial business case / product approval pack, agreeing business requirements with other areas of the business (product/service/IT specifications), specifying research to validate business cases and help shape the final product design.
Manage all aspects of product development activity, ensuring correct documentation and sign off by the business in accordance with the agreed product development process. Ensure the process is up to date and complies with FCA and legal requirements and ensuring that Consumer Duty principles have been adhered to throughout.
Monitor and report industry and competitor developments, providing insight to drive forward new product development and enhancements to existing products, processes and systems. Also provide monthly insight to Senior Management and Board to inform strategic direction as required.
Deliver a coordinated and comprehensive suite of market and competitor analyses and forecasts together with analyses and forecasts of business unit performance in order to inform proposition design and development.
Managing our 3rd party relationships with comparison sites (Defaqto, CI Expert etc.) ensuring AIG Life’s products are accurately represented. Act as liaison between comparison sites and AIG Life, including incident management.
Undertaking of both post launch and regular reviews for existing products. Responsibility for documentation of actions identified as a result of the reviews. Escalation to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) where appropriate.
Where appropriate, representing AIG Life on relevant industry groups
What we’re looking for:
A good understanding of the UK Financial Services (in particular Protection) market and/or proposition development with an ability to build business cases and gain buy-in from key internal stakeholders though oral and written presentations.
Inquisitive and action orientated, you will have a passion for the customer and identifying new or innovative solutions to meeting a customer need. A working understanding of customer research and how research helps shape propositions solutions is desirable. Consultative, approachable and persistent, you’ll be good at probing facts and challenging assumptions.
Commerciality is key and being able to analyse and interpret information to identify potential opportunities as well as prepare well thought through business cases is desirable. A collaborative team player, able to build good working relationships with all levels of the business through effective stakeholder management, whilst also having the ability to challenge and influence.
You will need a ‘can do’ approach having both the enthusiasm and ability to work under your own initiative. Flexibility in the approach to work, adapting to changing demands and conditions and where required, displaying appropriate discretion and confidentiality. Remaining calm and focused when working under pressure.
Why work for us:
We are an in-house team that enjoys challenging the conventional market thinking when it comes to product and propositional development. The nature of the role implicitly involves engagement with many colleagues across all areas of the business. This includes the senior leadership of the organisation - who are very accessible – and hence the role holds significant profile.
The Proposition Team sits under the remit of the Managaing Director – Customer and Business Operations and enjoys a wide breadth of technical knowledge. This is an excellent opportunity to operate in a role that will influence and shape the direction of the organisation over both the short and longer term horizons.
Benefits:
We also believe in fostering our employees’ development and offer a range of learning opportunities for employees to hone their professional skills to position themselves for the next steps of their careers. AIG also has a devoted learner program for eligible employees to enhance their education, skills, and knowledge in areas that relate to their current position or future positions to which they may transfer or progress.
