About the Fellowship Program
Join a community of scholars in the fields of art history, archaeology, museum education, conservation, and related sciences, as well as scholars in other disciplines, whose dynamic and interdisciplinary projects require close study of objects in The Met collection.
Annually, The Met awards over 50 fellowships to scholars from around the world. It is an educational priority to make The Met a laboratory for art and ideas. As a result, we support academic investigations of the Museum's collection spanning more than 5,000 years from every corner of the world and contribute to broader scholarly discourses.
Met fellowships are awarded to junior scholars, postdoctoral and senior academics, and museum professionals for independent study or research.

ABOUT THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
The Met’s Department of Education—dedicated to making art meaningful and accessible for everyone— is central to the mission of the Museum. The Department is a national and international leader in museum-based education and public programming, pushing boundaries through continuous innovation and experimentation. In-person and virtual programs include high school and college internships that promote career development and diversity; PreK–12 educator programs that train teachers to integrate art into curricula across disciplines; performances, concerts, lectures and symposia that feature preeminent artists and scholarship; daily tours in multiple languages, and so much more.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
You drive the success of the Civic Practice Project and support the development and growth of new community-based initiatives. You advance The Met’s role as a positive, relevant, and inspiring force in the daily lives of communities across New York City through sustainable partnerships with artists, local organizations, field leaders, and Met staff. You contribute to the long-term vision of the Public Programs and Engagement Division and the Community Partnerships and Initiatives team by delivering thoughtful, relevant, and dynamic experiences for existing and new audiences.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Under the guidance of the Managing Educator, Community Partnerships and Initiatives, manage all aspects of the Met's Civic Practice Project and artist residency programs, including the Civic Practice Partnership Artists in Residence Program and its Advisory and Review Committees.
Create a supportive and success-oriented environment for artists in residence by helping navigate the Museum, fostering meaningful connections with Met staff, facilitating logistics, and providing any other support required to achieve their goals successfully.
Ensure the seamless delivery of the Civic Practice Partnership artists' off-site, on-site, and virtual programming and culminating projects.
Manage communication with the various Civic Practice Project stakeholders, including Collaborative for Creative Practice and Social Justice members, Seminar participants, artists-in-residence, and Project alumni.
Manage Project budgets, coordinating funding needs, drafting agreements, and processing payments.
Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to produce Project’s print and online content to promote and heighten awareness of the Project’s events, programs, and initiatives.
Research and evaluate new opportunities for artist residency programs.
Integrate sustainable practices in artist residency programs to support Community Partnership and Initiatives in developing a sustainable framework.
Track, measure, and report on the Museum's audience data and use the findings to inform future audience and engagement strategies in support of the Managing Educator's vision.
Identify opportunities to expand outreach to local, national, and global communities and provide recommendations to the Managing Educator.
Develop authentic, sustainable partnerships with individuals and community organizations, with an emphasis on New York City neighborhoods.
Collaborate and coordinate with Met staff and external stakeholders to conceive, plan and implement meaningful education and community programs that appeal to a broad audience.
Assist with administrative processes and procedures for Community Partnerships and Initiatives.
Support special projects and cross-institutional initiatives.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
M.A. in Art History, Museum Education, Education or other related field, or equivalent education and experience
3 years of experience in arts/cultural programming or community-based arts programming
Strong track record of building positive, collaborative relationships with artists, cultural institutions, and community partners
Knowledge of contemporary visual, performing, and literary arts communities in New York City
Knowledge of theory and the practice of museum educational programming
Proven project management skills and experience with museum educational programming
Demonstrated success in developing and implementing high-quality, innovative museum programs that attract broad and diverse audiences
Excellent budgeting and financial skills
Ability to communicate with diverse audiences
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple time-sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility and creative problem-solving

Serving as an important member of The Met’s Foundation and Government Giving team, you will directly contribute to strengthening, shaping, and growing The Met’s foundation and government giving grant program, with a particular focus on Education. As outlined below, the Assistant Development Officer will help execute grant development and reporting, stewardship, and other grant management processes particularly liaising with Finance staff. You will report to the Senior Development Officer for Foundation and Government Giving and work closely with the larger Foundation and Government Giving team.
Work with the Senior Development Officer for Foundation and Government Giving assemble and expedite grant proposals, reports, budgets, and related communications, all with the highest level of attention to detail, collaborating with colleagues across the Museum.
Produce a quarterly calendar for Finance and program staff to ensure appropriate lead time for the preparation of proposal and report narrative and budgets.
Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Museum's strategic plan, mission, and vision, as well as the collection, special exhibitions, and programming, to effectively articulate the Met’s priorities and fundraising objectives to donors and prospects.
Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the Museum’s broad range of education programming.
Participate, in partnership with the Senior Development Officer for Foundation and Government Giving, in planning short- and long-term strategies to meet fundraising goals.
Write and edit gift acknowledgements and correspondence for Foundation-related contributions for senior staff and Museum leadership.
Assist with donor stewardship, which includes membership renewals, targeted communications, credit line review, guest list management, donor database record maintenance, participation in events, as well as scheduling and organizing meetings and follow-up.
Conduct research and prepare research material and giving histories for donor meetings.
Bachelor’s degree in art history or arts administration degree or equivalent experience
Three or more years of experience in development or a related field, ideally in a non-profit context.
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
Familiarity with building and reporting on complex project budgets.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work well with others, as well as independently.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
You will directly contribute to strengthening, shaping, and growing The Met’s foundation and government giving grant program, with a particular focus on government grants. The Associate Development Officer will report to the Deputy Chief Development Officer and work closely with all members of the team to oversee a comprehensive portfolio of foundation and government donors. You will oversee a comprehensive portfolio of foundation and government donors, manage grant development and implementation, project management, stewardship, and strategy, working with counterparts across the Museum, as well as external program staff.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Write, edit, and submit formal grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other materials, working with the Deputy Chief Development Officer, other members of the Development Office, Museum leadership, curatorial, conservation, and interpretive departments;
Collaborate with program staff throughout the Museum to ensure successful execution of grant-funded activities; review, edit, and submit grant reports, including detailed budget tracking, reconciliation, and follow-up;
Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Museum's strategic plan, mission, and vision, as well as the collection, exhibitions, and programming, to effectively articulate The Met’s priorities and fundraising objectives to donors and prospects.
Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the Museum’s government grants portfolio; produce a quarterly calendar for finance to ensure appropriate lead time for the preparation of proposal and report budgets.
Work collaboratively on a team of six, contributing to the area’s day-to-day donor stewardship and administration, which includes donor interface, credit line review, guest list management, pledge agreement memos, event participation, and donor record maintenance
Conduct research and prepare research material and giving histories for donor meetings.
Work closely with Counsel’s Office to review and edit donor gift agreement.

The advertised starting salary rate reflects the good faith minimum and maximum hourly rate for this role. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Modern and Contemporary Art, is working on a capital project to completely design and build the new Tang Wing. The collection of modern and contemporary art comprises more than 12,000 objects, including painting, works on paper, sculpture, decorative art, and time-based media, most of which is presently located on site.
This is a two year end dated position.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
You will be a key member of the collections team working closely with the department’s Senior Manager, Chief Registrar, the collections managers and other Met staff in all activities related to the care and assessment of the collection during the enabling work and renovation of the Tang Wing. You have a high degree of project management experience, organizational coordination, knowledge of collections care, as well as art handling and movement, the ability to work closely with other team members. You will complete an assessment of the permanent collection that is both on display and in onsite storage, for movement to offsite storage in advance of construction for the Tang Wing.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Work with Senior Manager, Collections Manager-Registrar and collections team to create an assessment plan for the collection.
Coordinate viewings of the collection in storage by curators, conservators, collection managers, photographers, and others to assess objects and to update record keeping.
Work with the collections team and registrar department to develop a plan for the movement of artworks on and offsite during the enabling phase for the new Tang Wing.
Coordinates and works with contract staff hired to assist in the assessment of the collection and the move offsite.
Work with Senior Manager, Collections Manager, Registrars and other departments to develop a budget for the move offsite and move back to The Met Fifth Avenue.
Monitors and updates collection-move data, such as dimensions, locations, components, etc., into The Museum System (TMS), collection management software working with other members of the Collections Team.
Compiles and maintains collections documentation associated to the project, both digitally and in physical files.
Coordinating the transfer of artwork to/from the Museum including the organization of transportation, security, insurance, unpacking, storage, with emphasis on documentation.
Track costs around art movement.
Leads the collections team in setting up storage locations and outfitting storage spaces.
Coordinate the packing and rehousing of collection works between conservation, collections, and onsite vendor.
Organize transfers of objects for Collections from off-site locations.
Will be required to work in multiple locations.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
BA degree required; MA in Museum Studies or Collections Management preferred.
Minimum 4 years working with museum collections preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills required.
Excellent organizational, management, and communication skills required.
Collections Management database experience in TMS.
Intermediate knowledge of archival materials and best practices in collections care.
Intermediate documentary photography and post-production skills.
Formal or on-the-job training and experience in handling and moving 3-dimensional artworks required, familiarity with fragile composite objects preferred.
Demonstrated ability to adapt and produce high-level results on multiple projects with shifting priorities.
Ability to work independently and in collaboration/coordination with collections, conservation, curatorial, and administrative staff.
Proactive task management required.
Familiarity with the following software preferred: collection management software with a strong preference for TMS, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Pay Range : $75,000 - $80,000 / Annually

You will manage, drive and enable strategic HR projects and programs in support of our staff strategies. Support the Chief Human Resources Officer to set and document project strategies and schedules, implement governance and drive project accountability while helping to and navigate potential roadblocks.
Work closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer to ensure the development and execution of robust change management plans including stakeholder management, and communications.
Support the CHRO and team to develop and implement comprehensive multi-year Human Resources strategy that aligns with the Museum’s strategic priorities.
Lead and support CHRO communications, including overseeing development of and directly writing and/or editing leadership presentations and organization-wide messages.
Provide strategic support for the CHRO, including development of relevant agendas and driving and tracking of decisions and follow-up items.
Research information on a wide variety of topics, prepare and contribute to the preparation of reports, briefings, presentations, and responses on strategic initiatives as appropriate.
Be proactive around CHRO’s priorities by staying ahead of and circling back on potential short-, medium-, and long-term opportunities and organizational risks.
Build a master plan and schedule of HR projects with clear objectives, milestones, stakeholders, and metrics.
Monitor the project team performance and keep stakeholders apprised of milestones, issues and risks and timelines through reports and/or dashboards.
Support initiatives and activities to strengthen organizational culture and pride through clear and effective communication.
Assist in the prioritization of resources among projects and work streams.
Liaise between the business, HR Centers of Excellence, and internal departments as needed to ensure the timely delivery of projects.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in business or related field.
5 - 7 years of project management experience with proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously for different stakeholders.
Associate in project management, PMP certification and/or formalized project management training preferred.
Experience with project management tools and agile processes.
Experience working with or on a HR team with working knowledge of various HR functions, systems and best practices.
Strong interpersonal, organization, analytical and critical thinking skills.

About the Department
Procurement leads the optimization of purchases across the Museum to sustain an environment of world-class strategic sourcing through an efficient Source to Pay (S2P) process. This is accomplished by utilizing industry best practices, which manage risk and administer sourcing functionality to proactively direct buying activities and protect the interests of the Museum. Through this process, Procurement:
leads The Met in embracing a culture where sourcing and negotiations are standardized across the organization in a center-led model;
acts as a financial steward and consistently, proactively delivers savings & cost efficiencies back to The Met;
is known as the Subject Matter Experts regarding strategic sourcing;
oversees Supplier Relationship Management and Supplier Diversity & Inclusion;
ensures our business processes are sustainable, manage risk and administer the right level of control and efficiency.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
You will execute the Met’s Procurement strategies and ensure the integrity of business processes in the acquisition of all Goods and Services needed in Design, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance of The Met’s Facilities and Special Exhibition Environments. You will process POs, manage purchase transactions, obtain quotes, benchmark, and lead simple sourcing projects in related to goods and services in Digital, Technology, Security, and Utilities, within The Met's contract terms and conditions by ensuring on time, on budget and quality-based project delivery.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Understand, and uphold, the Procurement Policies and Procedures regarding requisitioning, supplier selection, spend threshold levels, contracting, PO release etc. to ensure process integrity;
Have good understanding of the industries / market for the Digital, Technology, Security, and Utilities industries;
Process requisitions (REQs), manage purchase transactions, solicit quotes, benchmark costs and lead simple projects to meet internal turn-around-time requirements;
Validate / approve additional costs in invoices such as freight, additional handling, and perform change order for the invoice processing as necessary;
Ensure PO accuracy and compliance to The Met's Procurement Policy, and contract Terms and Conditions;
Validate fair values of incumbent sources through benchmark studies. Recommend alternate sources as appropriate considering attributes such as service levels, performance records, industry recognitions, and peer recommendations; negotiate with supplier to capture savings;
Maintain contacts with key suppliers to ensure continuity of supply and timely availability of goods and services;
Support Category Manager and Sr. Buyers in their projects with PO issuance, research, supplier communication (outreach, pre-qualification, onboarding), bidder communications, project tracking, proposal analysis / bids leveling, selection recommendation, to achieve optimal TCO (cost, service, & quality);
Work closely with the requesting departments to clearly understand their requirements to provide early input into the sourcing process. Research supply options and screen candidates;
Establish personal and team credibility by ensuring quick resolution of service issues;
Generate ad hoc work reports, provide periodic updates for management on activities and savings;
Drive procurement best practices to maximize ROI on engaged spend;
Understand project requirements, execute sourcing actions per the defined sourcing guidelines;
Process Requisitions and Change Orders to release POs within standard turn-around time;
Work with Counsel’s Office to create, redline, analyze and negotiate contracts;
Take remedial actions when suppliers are not performing as contracted. Ensure that ordered items are delivered on time and expedite where necessary;
Participate in Interlock meetings with end users, and understand their urgencies, align solution plans with Project priorities;
Generate ad hoc work reports, provide periodic activity updates for management, report savings contributions;
Collaborate with stakeholders and work with suppliers to come up with creative solutions under (sometimes) extreme time pressures to meet the project timelines;
Seek opportunities to maximize diversity spend (including sub-tiers) where viable in all sourcing projects;
Ensure that sourcing practices comply with the defined operating policies and procedures in all aspects of the source to pay process. Provide guidance to Requesters as appropriate;

QUALIFICATIONS:
A recognized 4-year college degree at an accredited institution (or equivalent);
3 years of relevant experience in technology related sourcing;
Basic understanding of supply bases in the digital and technology stack (hardware / software and professional services, analytics, content creation, and cloud); lab equipment, security / surveillance devices, and communications;
Basic understanding of the balance between controlling technology run costs and risks while building strategic technology partnerships with suppliers;
Contract negotiation and supplier management experience with understanding of legal / financial risks and key terms and conditions within goods and services contracts;
Ability to prioritize and manage intense workloads in a complex, fast-paced environment;
Self-starter with ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects;
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills;
Excellent PC based skills; analytical with solid proficiency in Microsoft Office

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
You will solicit funds and manage a portfolio of corporate donors for the Museum's fundraising program in the exhibition and program sponsorship area. You will identify, solicit and steward a portfolio of corporate sponsorship prospects; write exhibition and project proposals, correspondence and reports; and assist the corporate annual giving team as necessary, among other duties. The position supervises one Development Assistant. You are a key member of an 8-member team charged with raising approximately $20 million annually.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Identify, solicit and steward a portfolio of corporate sponsorship prospects for The Met’s robust schedule of exhibitions and special projects, with annual revenue of approximately $3 million.
Collaborate with curatorial and program departments and the Development Department Research team to identify prospects and create fundraising materials.
Negotiate and draft sponsorship agreements with Counsel’s Office, Communications and Finance Departments.
Act as departmental liaison with the museum’s Exhibitions Department.
Allocate and steward exhibition endowment funds with the museum’s Finance Department.
Reconcile exhibition funding and monthly cashflow with the Finance Department.
Assist the corporate annual giving team as necessary, such as with the annual Spring Gala and Real Estate Council Benefit events.
Supervise one Development Assistant, who maintains day-to-day operations such as drafting proposals, gift acknowledgments, general correspondence, and closing reports for corporate sponsors, and tracking exhibition and project credit lines across all assets produced throughout the Museum.
Perform other related departmental duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors' degree or equivalent experience
7 years professional fundraising experience
Demonstrated experience exercising judgement, confidentiality, and diplomacy with donors
Detail oriented and the ability to multi-task
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with visual arts
Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Familiarity with a donor management database such as Tessitura or Raiser’s Edge.
Excellent administrative skills including general office procedures and business protocols
Ability to work independently, handle a large volume of detailed work simultaneously, and use good judgment in prioritizing work.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
You will manage two annual giving programs, the Corporate Patron Program and the Real Estate Council, and produce two annual events, the Spring Gala and Real Estate Council Benefit. You will supervise a team that is responsible for preparing renewals and acknowledgement letters, processing contributions, tracking renewals, and overall service of Corporate Patron and Real Estate Council members. You are a key member of an 8-member team charged with raising approximately $20 million annually from corporate donors.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Manage two annual corporate member giving programs: the Corporate Patron Program and the Real Estate Council, with annual revenue of $2-3 million.
Identify and solicit new corporate members and increase contributions from current members.
Manage two annual fundraising events: the Spring Gala and the Real Estate Council Benefit, with approximate annual revenue of $4 million.
Collaborate with the Development Events team, Office of Special Events, Membership and Education Departments on all corporate events held at the Museum and attend regular interdepartmental event meetings.
Respond to all entertaining inquiries from corporate prospects, members and special exhibition sponsors, i.e., for large and small scale events, after hours and daytime tours, meetings, breakfasts and luncheons
Manage and report on corporate in-kind gifts across the museum.
Track income and expenses and update financial records.
Review of entertaining budgets and contracts and the preparation of the final version of contracts for signature
Supervise one Development Associate and one Development Assistant who maintain the day-to-day operation of the program, including membership renewals, gift postings, written acknowledgements, member lists, mailings, grant proposals and solicitation materials, monthly income reports, free admission list, Annual Report donor lists, etc.
Performs other related duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience
7 years professional fundraising and events experience
Demonstrated experience exercising judgment, confidentiality, and diplomacy with donors
Detail oriented and the ability to multi-task
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Familiarity with a donor management database such as Tessitura or Raiser’s Edge.
Excellent administrative skills including general office procedures and business protocols
Ability to work independently, handle a large volume of detailed work simultaneously, and use good judgment in prioritizing work.
Pay Range : $85,000 - $90,000 / Annually

The Department of Textile Conservation is responsible for preservation, conservation, technical study, research, and installation of the Museum’s collection of approximately 36,000 textiles in twelve curatorial departments, stored primarily in the Antonio Ratti Textile Study and Storage Center. The expansive collection represents a broad range of textiles, including flat textiles, tapestries, carpets, embroideries, costumes, archaeological and three-dimensional fiber art as well as accessories from all periods and cultures. The Department sets and follows guidelines for documentation, care, handling, display, and storage of the textiles and plays a vital role in The Met’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The Department of Textile Conservation at The Metropolitan Museum of Art upholds the highest professional standards in the conservation of the Museum’s collection of textiles.
You play a vital role in the well-functioning of the department, supporting conservators responsible for textile collections in various curatorial departments. You will be actively involved in different aspects of conservation work, varying from documentation through conservation treatment to analytical work through the interactions with colleagues working with diverse materials and projects, including a full range of historic and contemporary textiles and costumes. You will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills by learning traditional tapestries and carpet weaving/re-weaving techniques, as well as contribute to the development of treatment and display methodology of modern and contemporary textiles, ranging from flat textiles to three-dimensional fiber art along with mixed-media textile art.
Perform condition checks, examination and documentation of textiles using photographic and computer-aided technology within the safe and proper handling of textiles.
In-depth analysis of materials and weaving techniques including fiber and weave structure analysis using microscope equipment
Assist liaison conservators with conservation treatment through discussion, research, analysis and implementation of appropriate methodology based on assigned projects
Assist with time-sensitive projects and duties as assigned by Conservator-in -Charge
Participate with installation/de-installation of exhibitions/gallery rotations ranging from assisting liaison conservator(s) or requiring teamwork (e.g., large tapestries and carpet installations/de-installations at various physical heights)
Assist with preparation and installation of textiles for loans and acquisitions and possible courier travel to accompany and safeguard the art both domestically and internationally
Contribute to the continual development of preventive conservation techniques leading to the long-term preservation, treatment and storage of organic and particularly synthetic and mix-media materials
Contribute to the department’s research and publishing on conservation treatments, methodologies, materials and techniques, etc.
Conduct IPM activities individually and as part of team such as vacuuming, anoxic treatment, freezer treatment
Document condition reports and treatment proposals
Work with analytical equipment to conduct fiber identification, weave structure analyses
Master’s degree from an internationally recognized graduate conservation program.
2 years of work experience in textile conservation with some museum experience; a demonstrated capacity for conservation treatment of textiles including modern and contemporary ones
Manual skills (sewing & machine techniques); attention to detail and ability to complete assigned tasks in an efficient manner in order to maintain the department’s heavy workload and smooth operation
Communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal)
Experience with laboratory dyeing techniques of yarns and fabrics
Experience with the most recent diagnostic techniques such as digital microscopy, multiband imaging, digital documentation with image and drawing software

The Assistant Maintainer will assist the Engineering Maintainers in the operation and maintenance of all types of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, including but not limited to chillers, fans, pumps, air compressors, cooling towers, pneumatic and electronic controls, and the cleaning of machinery spaces. Other duties as assigned.
