The Mental Health Applications Development Team are looking for an adaptable, motivated and resourceful analyst to join the team, providing support to staff at CNWL in designing and developing our clinical applications. The team is located across two trust locations, Hathaway House, Woodfield Road and Trust HQ on Euston Road and also working remotely. The applicant must be able to work flexibly across all CNWL sites depending on service need.

Job Description:

General Description:  Under direct supervision of a physician or other medical personnel, performs routine patient care functions such as physician assistance, patient placement, testing, information gathering, nursing duties, chaperoning, supply maintenance, and scheduling.  May coordinate schedules of patients in an outpatient clinic and provide clerical assistance toward the smooth operation of the facility.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Physician Assistance.  Assists physician or other medical personnel in the examination process as required or necessary.
• Patient Placement.  Places patients in exam rooms.  Drapes and positions patients for appropriate exams or procedures.  Assists in restraining or controlling patients (infants, children, geriatrics, etc.). 
• Test Performance.  Performs routine tests on patients such as audiograms, vision, spirometer, EKG, rapid strep, urinalysis, and urine pregnancy tests.  Assists with cardiovascular stress tests, fetal non-stress tests, and OB ultrasounds.

• Chaperoning.  Chaperones examinations and patients.

• Scheduling.  Makes scheduling arrangements with other healthcare professionals and facilities.
• Training.  Assists with training other Medical Assistants.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: None required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred

• Ensure all claims are submitted within the insurance company established timely filing guidelines.
• Prepare, review and send resident statements.
• Review, reconcile, and post resident or health insurance payments on a daily and monthly basis.
• Review and resolve resident or health insurance credit balance and initiates refunds.
• Complete monthly claims triple check with designated health center team members prior to submission to various health insurance companies.
• Collect, verify, and enter in the billing system pertinent demographic and insurance information in accordance with registration standards.

• Knowledge of Medicare and Insurance billing regulations in a skilled nursing community environment.
• Three or more years’ experience in private pay resident billing and collections and in private pay and insurance cash posting.

Among your various responsibilities, you will coordinate and participate in the efficient delivery of high-quality nursing care to assigned opiate dependent patients, who are receiving methadone or suboxone in an integrated care setting including primary care, psychiatric, preventative care and recovery services. 

You will collaborate with an outstanding multidisciplinary team, analyze patient care data, administer and manage medications and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans.  You will provide ongoing patient education, telephonic & in person triaging; Take initiatives, actively participant in quality & patient safety initiatives; Identify and address opportunities for improvement, participate in shared governance committees, and help to build on our reputation for extraordinary outcomes and care.

Summary of Job Duties:

The Medical Assistant, (MA), works under the direct supervision of the clinic physician by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients. The MA will conduct patient interviews, measure vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The MA will also draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Also prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. The MA may also perform administrative tasks by registering and scheduling patients for appointments, procedures, etc. using the various registrations and scheduling systems.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School/GED PLUS Successful completion of Medical Assistant training program.

• BLS (CPR) Certification.

• Ability to perform point of care testing, draw and collect blood specimens and prepare for laboratory processing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One (1) year phlebotomy and MA experience preferred. 

• Previous experience in an ambulatory care setting.

• Responsible for set up and to assist provider with medical procedures and examinations.

• Researches physicians’ orders/accession orders within Epic environment prior to submission to clinical laboratory or appropriate processing center.

• Performs additional skills such as EKG’s, dressing changes, set up for and assist provider with procedures and examinations, and administer approved medications.
