Your new role
Southend-on-Sea Council's Fostering Support Team are looking to appoint a permanent, full-time Supervising Social Worker to train, assess, supervise and support Foster Carers in their role of looking after children and young people. Ensuring that the highest professional standards and a good overall knowledge of relevant children's and fostering legislation, regulations and practice methods are met.You will provide an efficient service to children, young people, their families and fostering families, ensuring that the needs of children and their parents and carers are professionally assessed. You will be required to investigate, evaluate and analyse information on cases, demonstrating clarity of assessment, reliability of information, evidence in conclusions and realistic action plans. As well as this, you will need to develop practice which takes a holistic view of the individual, locating them in their immediate and extended social circles and having full regard to their overall development needs.

The team have an average of 15 cases per person.Duty will be undertaken in the office approx 3 days a month, with an on-site team meeting every other week. The post is hybrid, but you will be expected to be on site a minimum of 1 day a week.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.You will need to have two years experience of working with foster carers and have a working knowledge of fostering regulations and national minimum standards.You will need strong communication skills and be able to organise yourself and others. In addition, you will need to possess a driving licence and have use of a car.

This is an apprenticeship role.
A Customer Service Advisor deals directly with customers and acts as a go-between between the customer and Service Technicians, scheduling vehicle service work.
They will handle administrative and customer relations aspects of service department operations.
Their duties may vary slightly from employer to employer depending on the size of the company, but they commonly include:
• Interpreting customer concerns and comments and liaising with technicians
• Booking/scheduling vehicle services
• Liaising with customers about any additional work required
• Estimating time and costs associated with repairs
• Handling customer complaints
• Responding to customer requests
• Tracking the vehicle through the workshop
Towards the end of the apprenticeship all candidates will be required to produce a high level project to improve and develop business needs.

Duties include : Manage the reception desk ensuring surgeries run smoothly and efficiently Answering the telephone, taking messages, and passing them on appropriately Actioning any queries for repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines To provide point of contact for patients and to act as a focal point of communication between, patients, doctors, and other members of the Primary Health Care Teams Completing all reception/administration task as necessary Opening and closing the practice as and when necessary ensuring the reception, office and consulting rooms are prepared in readiness for the next session Photocopying, scanning, and shredding as requested Ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times Having a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures and policies Working in accordance with written protocols Completing any tasks allocated by managers or GPs. Senior Practitioner - Children in Care, South Essex

Permanent, Full Time*

£45,217 to £54,395 per annum

Children in Care

Children in Care (CIC) teams work with children and young people up to the age of 18 who are in care– they’re unable to live at home and are either placed with a foster carer or live in residential homes. They work with children and young people to ensure their experiences in care is a good one and that the work undertaken prepares them for their transition into leaving care or return home to family. The CIC teams receive cases in proceedings after the first hearing, they visit children and young people in placement, develop permanency plans which include Special Guardianship Order (SGO) and adoption, undertake life-story work to enable a child to understand the reasons for being in care and also support children to return home to birth family.

The role

The Senior Practitioner manages a complex caseload and provides expert supervision and coaching for colleagues, to achieve positive change for children, young people and families. The role deputises for the Team Manager, leading the team and management of duty services.

The role requires an experienced social work practitioner, able to manage higher levels of risk, mentor and advise staff, manage performance and deliver improvements. Building strong working relationships with key partners and stakeholders is essential

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

· A recognised social work qualification i.e. Diploma, degree or masters in social work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent, with current registration with Social Work England as a registered social worker.

· Evidence of continuing professional development, aligned to any relevant Professional Competency/Capability frameworks or Knowledge and Skills Statements.

· Significant experience of social work, demonstrating a comprehensive and up to date understanding of all relevant legislation, regulation and guidance.

· Experience of mentoring both Social Work students and newly qualified and experienced Social Work staff, being a subject matter expert in professional social work practice.

· Experience of chairing meetings involving clients, family members and/or carers and other multi-agency professionals.

· Developing strong relationships with partners, other agencies and the local community to achieve joint objectives and offer a supportive framework for children, young people and families.

· In depth understanding of delivery of value for money interventions balanced against need.

· Proven track record of clear decision making in order to highlight and limit the potential risks associated with intervention.
