Mechanical/Industrial Engineer – FT Summer Internship

KZValve, a business unit of the IDEX Corporation, is an engineering design and valve actuation company focused on Agriculture, Fire, De-icing, Turf, and Industrial industries. We specialize in low voltage actuated valves (that are waterproof and extremely durable) ranging in size from 1/4 inch to 6 inches. Our facility and staff design, engineer, assemble, and sell our finished goods. KZ Valve’s sales channel is primarily direct to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and through a network of Authorized Stocking Distributors.

The Mechanical/Industrial Engineer Internship will allow you to gain hands-on experience working on meaningful projects, network with engineers across the organization, and learn what it is like to be an engineer at KZValve while making a lasting impact and developing lifelong skills to elevate your future career.

This position focuses on optimizing the interconnected components of a manufacturing system (e.g., personnel workflow/ergonomics, materials logistics, production process sequence, equipment layouts, etc.). The Mechanical/Industrial Engineer Internship applies broad theoretical knowledge typically obtained through advanced education and must be able to explain facts, policies and practices related to the job area.

Key Responsibilities/Tasks:

• Work on problems of limited scope and contributes on projects or processes while receiving detailed instructions from higher level professionals.
• Establish methods of maximum utilizations of production facilities and personnel.
• Conduct cost/inventory/production control and human factors studies to develop and implement plans for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods.
• Assist manufacturing plant/facilities engineers with facility planning and design.

• Strong initiative, work ethic, and levels of enthusiasm

Required:

• Actively enrolled in an accredited university the semester prior to your start date
• Completed coursework in reading and understanding CAD drawings
• Available to work 40 hours weekly for a minimum of 3 months*
• No other work experience required, though preferred. We will teach you everything you need to know!

Education:

• To be pursuing a degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or another applicable major
• Sophomore-Senior level standing
• Minimum 3.0 GPA

The DCIO at Leidos currently has an opening for a Service Management Analyst to work in our Reston or Orlando office and possibly remotely. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience and training to help analyze Leidos’ current IT business processes and workflows and help bring improvements and efficiency to this transforming organization.

Primary Responsibilities

Analyze Service Management processes that span across multiple support & engineering teams and work with those teams to identify improvements.

• Assist with and perform data analysis and data management activities on our CMDB

• Help define, document, and communicate process improvements designed to improve data quality and consistency.

• Help define and document process requirements and corresponding measurements for the CMDB

• Document requirements to ensure that the CMDB integrates effectively with other ITSM Processes such as Incident Management and Change Management

• The CMDB is a mission-critical application, and this role will be highly visible within the organizations

Basic Qualifications

• •Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

• •Ability to communicate and collaborate with various levels of technical competency. 

• •Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

• •Ability to identify trends and anomalies from collected data.

• •US Citizenship is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ticketing system

• Familiar with ITIL practices, including Incident Management, Change Management, Knowledge Management, and Configuration Management.

Pay Range $38,350.00 - $69,325.00
