Our work

We design and build human-centred, modern digital services.

We excel in 3 areas:

1. Strategy: We focus on creating business value. We engage business leaders on productivity, customer satisfaction, operational excellence and workplace culture.
2. Design: We are design-led. We approach problems from an outside-in perspective, engage various stakeholders, test ideas and build prototypes.
3. Technology: We build digital services using a modern tech stack that includes low-code tools, AI/ML and APIs. And yes, we use Scrum as our development methodology.

We assign a team to each project (an engagement). Every team is cross-functional and dedicated. The team roles include Engagement Directors, Product Owners, Product Designers, Content Strategists, UX Researchers and Engineers. These engagements may last between 3 to 18 months or more.

As a UX Researcher, you’ll lead the generation of insights to shape decision-making by senior leaders and inform the design of products, services, processes, and business strategy.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities are:

• Work closely with clients to understand their goals
• Design and conduct end-to-end generative research through largely qualitative methods and occasionally quantitative methods
• Facilitate synthesis and ideation in presentations and workshops with clients
• Work closely with team members and clients to ideate and prioritise to-be flows, concepts and features based on insights
• Strengthen our community of practice by building our internal and external research tool kit (e.g. strategic foresight tools, Jobs-to-be-Done)
• Act as a thought leader in the research domain by staying informed about how the research practice is evolving and its impact on our practice

Experience

Here are the experience and skills we'd love you to have:

• 6-8 years of relevant experience driving innovation, strategy, and design in enterprise or consulting environments
• Critical and strategic thinking demonstrated in your portfolio of recent work
• Ability to adapt, collaborate, and build consensus in highly ambiguous, fast-changing environments
• Strong curiosity and willingness to quickly gain knowledge to elevate the team’s holistic understanding of new domains or spaces
• Willingness to learn new skills and conduct activities outside the typical remit of UX research (e.g. product management, business process mapping)
• Executive presence with the ability to manage senior client stakeholders by leading conversations and making recommendations at the intersection of design, business, and technology

The opportunity

On the Design Research & Strategy team, our mission is to lay a user-centered foundation for Adobe product design and development. We are seeking a Senior Experience Researcher to steer research for Adobe Illustrator, from early explorations through shipping new features/products.

What we do

• Assess project scope, form appropriate research questions, and identify appropriate research methods (developing new methods if/where needed)

• Runs research studies from start to finish, including developing a realistic research plan and materials, recruiting participants, and synthesizing data into actionable insights.

• Build alliances across the company to identify new partners, drive teamwork, and deeply understand the business context of research problems. We engage with different roles and product teams to understand and influence business goals, system architecture, and product designs.

• Identify new strategic opportunities and initiatives that the product and organization can explore.

• Advocate for the customer by articulating research findings and product ideas through clear and insightful presentations. We often present work in group-wide or company-wide forums (e.g., brown bags, tech summit, MAX, KTB, etc.).

• Mentor junior staff and supervise contractors/vendors on more complicated programs of study.

Who we are looking for

Requirements:

• Significant hands-on research experience, with at least 5 years of that experience in an industry setting (e.g. UX/product research, market research, consulting, etc.)

• Able to handle areas (user/product/domain) that may be ambiguous or ill-defined.

• Experience conducting research on new, emerging technologies (e.g. Generative AI).

• A deep understanding of the product life cycle and conducts research in a timely manner to have maximum impact.

• Experience with ethnographic research.

• Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.

• Can collaborate well across all project roles (design, research, product management, engineering, etc.)

• Goes beyond summarizing study data to identify significant user needs and/or product issues.

• Is comfortable connecting the dots between mixed data types (qualitative, quantitative, analytics) to create deeper and more comprehensive insight narratives.

• Can proactively identify and communicate clear product solutions based on these findings, sometimes across departments.

• Presentations connect to broader business goals and KPIs.

• Experience communicating work at the management, director, and VP levels.

• An undergraduate degree from a 4-year, accredited institution.

Nice to haves:

• Experience researching creative workflows, including desktop apps, mobile apps, and web-based tools.

• Knowledge of graphic design user workflows, pain points, needs, and motivations.

• Interest and experience with GenAI technology & understanding how people want to leverage GenAI

• An advanced degree in HCI or HCDE, or similar field.

• Familiarity with or interest in Adobe’s creative (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).

• Experience with survey development, including building, executing, analyzing.
