As a Maintenance Tech 1 you will be responsible for executing a preventative maintenance program, as well as supporting the troubleshooting and diagnostics repairs of the building’s material handling equipment.  You will also support the Operations team by helping with designing maintenance solutions for difficult problems and maintenance projects.  The Maintenance Tech 1 will play an integral role in accomplishing building and department goals. 

 

A day in the life… 

• Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures 
• Support the troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing all aspects of material handling systems & conveyors (such as motor/ reducer issues, belt tracker, belt lacing 
• Support the troubleshooting of basic relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components-- photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, Servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachs, and encoders. 
• Safely operate equipment: forklifts, scissor and boom lifts, hand tools 
• Working Knowledge of a work order system 
• Create and close out work orders with data including labor hours, equipment maintenance and parts used  
• Maintain a positive working relationship across all departments within the Nordstrom facility  
• Move up to 49lbs as well as stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation

Tasks that the individual will be responsible for include but not limited to; emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.

Job Description

Demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment; ability to apply this to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff. May be responsible for the following locations to clean but not limited to; patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met.

Wear the proper protective equipment following the appropriate guidelines. Keep storage, equipment and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy. Environmental Services Technicians will have access to pagers and other technology that they will be responsible to use appropriately when needed. Assist in the laundry areas as appropriate. Depending upon location and availability of programs, may have access to use of technology applications.

Physical activities include but not limited to, considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body; such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials. Ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs and push/pull up variable weight limits on flat surfaces or up and down ramps. This position will require the individual to be on their feet for the majority of their shift. May be exposed to certain levels of noise with the equipment in operation.

Depending on location of position, work hours will vary depending on patient/resident needs. This may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred. Ability to use computer and prior cleaning experience is helpful. Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful. Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required. Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

The Maintenance Technician II will help lead a team to provide a safe and well-maintained store environment for Nordstrom customers and employees. This role will support the Facility Manager (FM) to ensure stores are ready for business daily. The role will help execute on the following key themes:

• Ensuring HVAC, Vertical Transportation, Restaurants, Entries and Signs, and Building Systems are ready for the day's business
• Responding to daily break-fix and on-demand requests, advanced troubleshooting, and support in delegating generated workorders to team.
• Communication with Store Leadership including participating in store meetings, supporting vendor relations and assisting with administrative items such as ordering parts and setting up meetings

As a lead technician, you will use your skills to support the Facilities team in repairing and maintaining equipment and systems throughout the building. In addition to developing your skills, you will mentor other technicians to grow in their roles.  This position will support multiple Nordstrom Stores and Nordstrom Rack locations within a business node.

A day in the life…

• Lead and perform both on demand and planned monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual Preventive Maintenance on all critical and non-critical equipment
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all Store Operations
• Operate and monitor building controls, critical and non-critical building systems, and associated equipment.
• EMCS command: Troubleshooting alarms, verifying proper building operation.
• Lead equipment and building rounds & readings. Responsible for identifying, mitigating, and reporting building systems and equipment malfunctions.
• Perform manual labor tasks such as loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials.
• Assist with administrative task such as parts ordering, PO# creation, vendor management, and attending relevant job meetings/project meetings, etc.
• Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures. Act as a safety champion for adherence to safety and health rules by following proper LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), ergonomics, working at heights and machine guarding.
• Act as face of the facilities business in place of the FM by helping to attend store meetings and vendor/project meetings. Clearly document and share notes on outcomes.
• Complete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation with the ability to delegate to and mentor other technicians on system(s) accuracy.
• Assist FM with technical training of new employees on equipment and/or building systems.
• Ability to respond to location emergencies
• Update the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) as necessary to maintain maintenance procedure and accurate equipment historical records. Maintain adequate parts inventory and order items as necessary.
• Communicate, coordinate, and assist in work with outside contractors, vendors, and Property Managers/Landlords.
• Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.

• High School Diploma/GED. Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college preferred
• 5-7 years of experience of hands-on facilities with an emphasis in mechanical maintenance.
• 5+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures
• 5+ years of working experience involving HVAC and refrigeration, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical skills to perform facilities and equipment repairs.
• Able to troubleshoot basic input and output functions. Low voltage signal tracing and troubleshooting of logical devices.
• Able to work without supervision and appropriately meet multiple deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with all organizational levels. Must include written and verbal skills.
• Strong dedication to supporting facility by working in a safe, customer focused manner. Must be highly self-motivated.
• Ability to utilize all Microsoft Office programs and applications at an intermediate level
• Previous experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ordering system (Coupa)
• Knowledge of computer networking systems and infrastructure
• Experience with electromechanical operation and maintenance
• Project Management experience a plus!
• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule: days, evenings, weekends, and off-hours may be required

Critical Facilities Engineer, Data Center (second and night shift)

We have multiple positions to fill and may hire at levels above or below what is described here. Data Centers are considered Critical Facilities. This means that we support hospitals, laboratories, public safety centers. Simply put - We cannot go dark. In this crucial role, a Critical Facilities Engineer:

• Maintains datacenter infrastructure systems in a mission-critical, high-risk and high-reliability environment.
• Operates, maintains, and repairs multiple critical and non-critical facility components, including: HVAC (heating, cooling, and ventilation) systems, plumbing, fire control and suppression, roofing systems and exterior grounds.
• Has proficient understanding of critical facility components that may be impacted by failures or malfunctions of infrastructure systems.
• Evaluates facility standards and practices to ensure efficient operations for maintaining and monitoring facilities systems.
• Responds to emergency situations and ensures corrective measures are rapid and detailed.
• Participates in the planning and installing of new facility systems.

Responsibilities in facility and infrastructure maintenance include performing preventative and corrective maintenance checks on-site to facility components, repairs, maintenance, installations and on-site inspections to facility systems. Support energy efficiency measures.  Monitor and resolve Building Monitoring System (BMS) alarm issues. Operate and maintain plumbing, fire suppression, and safety systems.

Supports the work approval process for vendors/service providers on maintenance work, by briefing at the start of work, supervising work during the day workday/shift and final review of the work carried out. Ensures vendor maintenance activities are carried out as per Equinix's standard operating procedures. Cooperate with vendors in modifying technical files for plants and equipment ensuring files and builds are up-to-date.

Site administration and incident support responsibilities include performing site logs for permits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOPs) and scripts. Identify Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and make recommendations. Respond to all on-site incidents, including failures, problems and delays. Display substantial understanding in following operating procedures to support on-site administration.

Completes routine work requests and circuit installations, troubleshoots and maintains office equipment (if needed); supports auxiliary equipment and machines with problem solving and repairs to avoid/minimize downtime. Makes minor changes to mechanical, electrical and specialized systems, as directed. Carries out infrastructure projects.

Collaborates with others to resolve moderately difficult facility incidents. Optimally collaborates within the department; may mentor team members on general maintenance activities. Notifies team members of inventory needs in order to maintain optimal stock levels of critical parts and equipment. May recommend infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Level IV: 2+ years commercial MEP (mechanical/HVAC and/or electrician) experience
• Level V/Senior: 5+ years commercial MEP (mechanical/HVAC and/or electrician) experience in a mission critical environment

• A natural curiosity and strong troubleshooting skills
• Experience working in a critical facility/mission critical environment strongly preferred

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists with the instruction and evaluation of veterinary and veterinary technology students.

• In a clinical or classroom setting provides demonstrations in skill areas such as proper medical record-keeping, animal restraint, phlebotomy, intravenous and urinary catheterization, fluid therapy, aseptic technique, anesthetic monitoring, and postoperative care.

• Provides patient care including placing and maintaining catheters, administering fluids, medications, and treatments, removing sutures, and changing dressings.

• Collects, analyzes, and processes samples for research, diagnostic, and clinical purposes.

• Monitors the patient's condition and the effectiveness of medications.

• Provides nursing care, such as monitoring body functions (temperature, respiration, heartbeat, amount and frequency of food consumption, defecation, urination, etc.) and noting abnormalities.

• Monitors the effectiveness of the environmental sanitation program.

General Description:

Under general supervision in the capacity of a Surgical Technician III, provides technical assistance to operating room physicians and nurses performing difficult and complex surgical procedures. Surgical Technician III will have a primary designated service line. They will have expertise and competencies specific to the service line.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Utilizes physician’s preference cards to assist in preparing the operating room for the surgical procedure. 
• Assists in maintaining and updating preference cards. 
• Maintains an adequate supply of instruments and supplies to meet the patient’s changing needs.
• Scrubs in and sets up instruments and supplies prior to procedure. 
• Prepares sterile field by obtaining, opening, and arranging instruments and supplies anticipated for the procedure.
• Assists in draping the patient and operative area.
• With nurse, opens and prepares the sterile field. 
• Assists the nurse in correct identification of operative specimens for laboratory analysis. 
• Remains attentive during surgery and provides additional instruments, supplies or other items as needed. 
• Remains attentive to sterile field and recognizes and corrects breaks in sterile technique.
