The Opportunity
The Department of Management in the College of Business Administration invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-earning assistant or tenured associate professor position specializing in entrepreneurship or strategic management. The expected start date is Fall 2024 and will be on the UCF main campus. The successful candidate will conduct and publish research related to entrepreneurship and/or strategic management and teach courses in entrepreneurship and/or strategic management. Teaching load is commensurate with expectations at an R1 urban research university.
The Management Department at The University of Central Florida (UCF) includes the areas of Organizational Behavior, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship. Our department includes diverse faculty members, some of whom are former associate editors of the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Business Ethics Quarterly, Fellows of the Academy of Management, SIOP, and Southern Management Association and have served in leadership roles in the Academy of Management and Southern Management Association. Minimum Qualifications:
Assistant Professor:
- Doctoral degree from an AACSB-accredited institution, either in management or a closely related field, by the start of the appointment.
- Candidates must possess a portfolio of research targeted to top management journals in the field, e.g., AMJ, AMR, JBV, JOM, OS, SMJ, etc.
- Evidence of an active research program in the field.
Associate Professor:
- Doctoral degree from an AACSB-accredited institution, either in management or a closely related field.
- Candidates must possess a portfolio of research published in management journals, e.g., AMJ, AMR, JBV, JOM, OS, SMJ, etc., commensurate with the Department of Management and the College of Business Administration’s tenure criteria.
- Evidence of an active research program in the field that inspires confidence that research performance will equal or surpass current levels of performance.
- In order to be hired with tenure, the selected candidate must have a demonstrated record of teaching, research, and service commensurate with a tenured associate professor in the Department of Management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Assistant Professor:
- Publishing in top strategy and/or entrepreneurship journals in the field, e.g., AMJ, AMR, JBV, JOM, OS, SMJ, etc.
- Experience teaching entrepreneurship or strategic management courses.
- Ability and desire to mentor Ph.D. students.
Associate Professor:
- Sustained success publishing in top strategy and/or entrepreneurship journals in the field, e.g., AMJ, AMR, JBV, JOM, OS, SMJ, etc., especially as the primary/lead researcher in a well-defined research program.
- Continued contributions leading to the advancement of knowledge in one or more fields within the discipline.
- Success teaching entrepreneurship or strategic management courses, and experience teaching at the graduate level.
- Experience mentoring Ph.D. students and teaching doctoral seminars.
- Active involvement in the field demonstrated by leadership roles, such as editorial experience for high quality journals or serving as a division representative.
