As part of this you will
- Work with procurement team to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements for the reporting/analytics solution.
- Undertake the development of descriptive/diagnostic analytics solutions, such as self-service dashboards, to enable customers from the procurement domain to gain visibility of key management information and insights.
- Identify and realise opportunities to streamline the existing reporting delivery and the methods of delivering reports and dashboards to customers.
- Support the development of the corporate Business Warehouse environments, working closely with teams in IT and third parties to identify and highlight data quality or integrity issues, and recommend new improvements to enhance reporting.
- Quickly understand new areas of business and technology enabling impactful and effective conversations with the stakeholders.
What you’ll need to do the role
- Knowledge and experience of development within business intelligence tools such as SAP Analytics Cloud and Microsoft Power BI.
- Statistical orientation with expertise in EDA.
- Strong data visualisation and presentation skills.
- Data manipulation skills, including ability to extract, transform, and analyse data sets using BI tools.
- Ability to problem solve, break down complex issues and develop solutions based on findings in the data.
- Excellent communications skills both verbal and written as you will need to be able to simply communicate complex issues, processes, and data to a non-technical audience. Not essential, but advantageous:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Distribution Finance team for a Inventory Analyst to support Stores & Logistics activity. The role can be based either in Reading or Perth with an element of UK travel required.

As a Inventory Analyst you will be responsible for the execution of comprehensive general accounting and Inventory control activities. The Inventory Analyst is responsible for supporting the Inventory Finance Manager through the accurate and timely execution of transactional processing activities such as posting standard journals, running reports, and supporting Inventory accounting activities. The Inventory Analyst will help undertake Inventory counts within the SSE local depots across SSE locations across the South of England & the North of Scotland (depending on base location)

Key Accountabilities for this role include:

- Performance Improvement - work closely with the Inventory Finance Manager to provide business partnering support, guidance & training to the logistics (Central) & Distribution Local Stores teams. Provide proactive challenge to the business on financial performance to drive improvements. Work with business teams to identify and implement initiatives and opportunities. Interpret and cascade guidance, to enable the business to understand & follow Group policies and procedures.

- Financial Control - Compliance with monthly financial control procedures, with a focus on robust account reconciliations. Including reconciling the Warehouse Management System (SNAP) to the Inventory Module (Oracle) on a weekly basis and at the month end close), investigating differences and consulting with the warehouse support team to resolve differences on a timely basis.

- External Audit & Year End Stock Takes - Engaging fully with External Audit & work closely with the Finance Manager - Inventory to ensure that audit samples & requests are actioned within agreed timelines. In preparation for the year end audit, work closely with the Finance Manager - Inventory & the Local Stores Support Teams to develop a plan for wall-to-wall stock counts prior to year-end, clearly communicate count instructions, liaise with business, assist (where needed) with the physical stock counts, process results & provide reporting and feedback in respect of the stock count results.

- Process - Lead on several business-as-usual activities, including.
- Managing, Actioning & Responding to Mailbox correspondence.
- Processing Fuel Stock Transactions and prepare monthly Fuel Reconciliation & Fuel Report.
- Supporting Stock Count / Cycle Count activity includes processing inventory adjustments & reporting.
- Process Plant Workshop inventory & project costing transactions.
- Monitoring, Investigating & Clearing Inventory Module Interface Rejections.

- Transformation & Process Improvement - Focusing on Stores & Logistics, support Transformation Activity e.g., the implementation of the Stock Booking App, re-alignment of the Distribution Location stores onto the Distribution Balance Sheet, development of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) reporting and the controls improvement workstreams. Work closely with the Projects & Process (P&P) Team to identify processes that require improvement (e.g.to reduce man hour requirements and/or to improve information and insights). Work closely with the P&P team, Logistics & other team members to help prioritise, facilitate & action change.

- Reporting - Deliver reporting including Fuel Reporting, Cycle-Count Reporting, Stock Taking Differences Reporting & Other Adhoc analysis in line with agreed finance / business requirements.

What do I need?

- Ideally have completed AAT or qualified by experience (solid experience within a finance department).

- Knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures.

- Knowledge in stock and logistics environment will be beneficial.

- Knowledge of Oracle ERP systems, processes and workflow technology.
