Working across grounds of over 400 acres and around 400 school buildings, you will be flexible and able to work on you own without direction. Main Duties

• Supporting the security department and operating all the functions in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and daily briefings - including CCTV monitoring, intruder and fire alarm management, access control, visitor management, use of radio systems, management of keys and recording details of incidents through reports and daily occurrence books as appropriate
• To conduct direct patrolling (internally and externally on foot or using vehicular means), attend incidents and help coordinate situations with guidance from the Control Room or Security Supervisor. Attend and pro-actively deal with any security-related incidents, as directed by the Control Room or line managers and accurately record all incidents in a concise and appropriate format. Operate security-related and personal protective equipment following departmental procedure (i.e. radios and body worn cameras), ensuring the equipment is clean and stored correctly, reporting any faults to the Deputy Head of Security
• Deal professionally with victims of crime and individuals in confrontational situations. It is expected that individual’s committing crimes at the College will be observed and detained at the Security Officer’s discretion awaiting the arrival of the Police.
• Maintain a good level of physical fitness to ensure that you can actively and physically fulfil your security responsibilities.
• Undertake staff training as required and receive guidance and instruction from the Head of Security, Deputy Head of Security and Security Supervisor when necessary.
• Carry out specialist and bespoke security duties in connection with events and VIP visits i.e. Fourth of June celebrations, CCF Tattoo and St Andrews Day

We are currently recruiting for Security Officer's to join our team on a brand new contract in the Plymouth area! The job will be to deliver a top-quality security service to the customer, deal with any security incidents and to manage access/egress control to the site.

The role will be to cover a Monday to Friday shift pattern, working 06:30am - 18:30pm,

The rate of pay is currently £12.50 per hour.

Security experience is desirable but if you do not have this, please do not worry. We are looking for great communicators, people with great customer service and a drive to succeed! We can support you through your on site training, as well as your SIA training. We will initially cover the cost of the license, with different payment plans in place to suit you!

Your Time at Work
As a Security Officer at G4S, your duties will include:

Main Duties

-Your primary responsibility is to protect work colleagues.

-You should have a highly visible presence on the shopfloor that deters shoplifting and anti-social behaviour and therefore maintains a safe place for employees to work and customers to shop.

-You should always be alert to situations in store that may present a threat to staff, customers, and yourself.

-You should be aware of persons known to cause anti-social disruption in the local area.

-Should anti-social behaviour occur in the store, your role is to de-escalate and calm the situation, requesting that the perpetrator leaves the store immediately, alerting the police as appropriate.

-Do not leave site without Duty manager's permission.

-Immediate risks that are communicated from visitors, customers or employees should be confirmed as quickly as possible.

-Officers must always conduct themselves in a professional manner, in interactions with both work colleagues and the public. When interacting with the public, officers are an extension of the company brand and are expected to be friendly and courteous.

-Record all incidents and actions through the device provided.

-SIA badges must always be displayed.

-Personal phones are not to be used whilst on duty.

-In emergency situations refer to the store procedures and contact your Area Manager at the earliest opportunity.

-You should always undertake your duties as allocated in a safe manner, considering personal safety and that of your colleagues and the public.

-Smoking and vaping should only be carried out during break times as agreed by the Duty Manager. Under no circumstances may you smoke or vape in sight of customers.

-You should report any Health and Safety concerns to the Duty Manager.

-Never accuse anyone of activities that you have not witnessed yourself.

-Officers to always follow ASCONE procedures.

-If you notice that the tagging and alarm systems are not fully operational, you should raise this to the Duty Manager immediately.

What we are looking for
