• Assist the Chief Engineer to oversees the engineering/maintenance operations of the hotel.

• Be responsible to ensure that all the engineering and maintenance activities of the hotel are conducted to the highest professional standards at all times, with guest comfort and safety being the highest priority.

• Assist the Chief Engineer in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans.

• Assist the Chief Engineer to develop preventive maintenance programs to ensure the facility is maintained and in service for our guests (example: lighting, refrigeration, heating, air-conditioning, water treatment systems, and pools)

• Assist the Chief Engineer to coordinate projects with general contractor and sub-contractor, and ensure quality work is performed cost-effectively

• Assist Chief Engineer to develop, implement and manage energy conservation programs for the property to minimise expenses

• Educate and train all engineering colleagues in compliance with governmental and safety regulations

• Ensure the team is properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties

• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments

• Communicate with all hotel department heads to stay informed of maintenance needs and ensure timely responses to requests.

What We Need From You

• Certified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

• Five years operating experience in a hotel engineering department

• Minimum of 5 years experience in a supervisory position in a hotel engineering department or a related field with a proven record of accomplishment or success.

• Experience in hotel renovation is an advantage

• Advanced knowledge of building management/engineering

• Highly committed to delivering a high level of guests experience

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English, particularly to deal effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.

Your new role
We are seeking candidates with Secretariat/Program Board experience. You will be joining a small, high-profile team working on a breadth of critical portfolio and government issues that directly benefit the Australian community and industry. Assistant Directors work as senior members of the team, responsible for leading the delivery of high-quality, accurate and consistent analysis and advice in providing secretariat services as required.

The duties of the role include but are not limited to:

Leading the preparation of high-quality meeting documents, including agendas, briefings, papers and minute briefings, often in a pressurised environment
Maintain professional and constructive relationships with stakeholders
Liaising with other policy, regulatory and operational areas in the department and across government to achieve area and agency goals
Leading and building the capability of team members to support the duties listed above.


What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will be a high-performing individual with previous experience in the APS in the same or similar role.
As well as this, the successful candidate will have the following skills and capabilities:

The ability to lead, mentor and develop others whilst building an effective, high-functioning team You must be an Australian citizen and will possess or be willing to go through the process to obtain and maintain a (Baseline, NV1 or NV2) personnel security clearance.
