About The Role

The Team Leader, Mid-term and Long-Term Market Analytics, will be accountable for leading a small, focused team in delivering market analysis to enhance decision support in Shell’s global LNG business. The Team Leader will be principally responsible for meeting the analytical needs of Shell’s LNG trading business with a focus on developing longer term views of the global gas market. The Team Leader will directly lead a team of four (4) analysts focused upon three tasks:

• development of the Mid-term and Long-term outlook for LNG;

• managing delivery of annual updates of gas and LNG Project Screening Values;

• and managing delivery of power fundamentals for the Asia region.

The Team Leader will also indirectly guide the work of data scientists and data engineers working to transform the data architecture underpinning mid and long-term analytics.

The Team Leader will be accountable for developing the mid- and long-term outlook for LNG in support of multiple internal clients and helping shape the LNG portfolio within Shell. The Team Leader will have one direct report supporting this work, who will be accountable for maintaining and operating a global gas market model.

This Team Lead will also manage the broader Global Gas Fundamentals team’s contribution to the annual Shell LNG Outlook.

Finally, the Team Leader, Mid- and Long-Term Analytics, directs the efforts of the Asian Power Fundamentals team. The Asian Power Fundamentals team supports development of the company’s regional power business, as well as providing analysis to support LNG market analytics for key countries in Asia. In this accountability, the Team Leader will work closely with key multiple stakeholders and have two additional direct reports.

There is a significant digital transformation aspect to the role. Advanced analytics are transforming the trading landscape. Traders are deploying these tools as markets become more real time to keep a competitive edge and to maintain or increase trading margins. They are able to do so because of increasing availability of market data as well as satellite, vessel tracking, and weather data; talent skilled in machine learning and statistical algorithms; and computing power, including the cloud, that runs predictive analytics fast enough to identify market signals which can significantly improve trading decision-making.

The Team Leader will be accountable for defining the data infrastructure development priorities for the mid- and long-term forecast horizon; working to create a roadmap for digital transformation with end-to-end workflows. The Team Leader should seek to harness the power of advanced analytics to improve the accuracy and timeliness of market forecasts and development of insights which deliver proprietary value to Shell.

Job Description

AI Singapore (AISG) is a national AI programme launched by the National Research Foundation (NRF) to anchor deep national capabilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The programme office is hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and brings together all Singapore-based research institutions and the vibrant ecosystem of AI start-ups and companies developing AI products to perform use-inspired research, grow the knowledge, create the tools, and develop the talent to power Singapore's AI efforts.

We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Finance Manager to manage and improve our divisional operations and workflows. Duties and responsibilities of the role will include, but not limited to, payments, fixed assets, research grant expense reporting and generating statement of accounts for reconciliation.

The successful candidate should possess strong organisational skills, attention to detail, highly meticulous, have a talent for finance and reconciliation, ability to multi-task, strong communication & interpersonal skills and an excellent team player.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Involved in grant financial reporting back to our funding agencies on budget utilisation
• Provide support in day-to-day financial operations within AI Singapore
• Handle fixed assets including maintain asset records & performing fixed asset verification.
• Generate monthly statements for reporting purposes.
• Raise required Journal Workflows for adjustment entries.
• Communicating with various stakeholders, research teams, and coordinating responses.
• Prepare periodic grant expense claim report with accurate information for transactions.
• Handle reconciliation of expenses and budget.
• Ensure timely submission of fund requisitions and grant disbursements.
• Monitor research project accounts to ensure timely closure and refunds to grantors upon project completion.
• Liaise with auditors for timely certification of grants
• Provide financial advice and support to other staff in AI Singapore who may be unfamiliar with financial policies and procedures
• Partner with various offices within NUS, particularly from Office of Finance, to ensure overall compliance and clarity processes / procedures
• Ensure compliance to grant fundability guidelines NUS policies.
• Conduct financial reviews and budget monitoring from time to time to ensure appropriate and timely follow up action is taken
• Participate in projects and assignments as may be directed from time to time.
• Any other administrative tasks delegated by supervisor

Qualifications

• • Bachelor degree in accountancy, commerce, business administration, management, or other related field.
  • Around 4 or more years experience in accounting or finance.
  • Working knowledge in SAP financial, project & fund management systems would be an added advantage
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to multi-task
  • Strong problem solving, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent proficiency with standard office applications, especially MS Word & MS Excel.
  • Experience working with Universities and/or government agencies is a plus

You will be a member of a professional team responsible for the financial, operational, and risk management reviews of the F&N Group’s operations in the region.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and perform financial and operational audits in accordance with the approved annual audit plan using a risk-based approach.
• Design and apply data analytics techniques in assigned projects
• Ensure assigned projects are completed in a timely manner and within the project budget allocated.
• Evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of the financial and operational processes and related internal controls, and ensure compliance with the Group’s corporate governance framework.
• Identify weaknesses in control activities and make value-added recommendations for process improvements.
• Communicate audit findings to local management via conducting of closing meetings at the end of fieldwork review.
• Prepare audit report to present the audit issues, risks and recommendations.
• Prepare appropriate and accurate workpaper documentation in accordance with documentation standards maintained by the Group Internal Audit.
• Perform ad hoc tasks and special projects/reviews as assigned from time to time.
• Suggest improvements in department matters relating to systems, processes or documentation.

Requirements:

• Recognised degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Accountancy or equivalent professional accounting qualification recognised by The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA).
• At least 5 to 6 years’ post qualifying audit experience with a Big 4 Accounting Firm or an Internal Audit department of a multinational enterprise. Operational experience in manufacturing industry would be an added advantage.
• Proficiency in use of auditing tools and techniques such as risk-based audit planning, analytical review, computer-assisted audit technique and data analytics
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Strong business communication, interpersonal and report writing skills
• Willingness to travel overseas (about 50%).
