We are looking for a Lead Nurse in Tobacco Dependency to lead the small and friendly team of Tobacco Dependency Advisors providing stop smoking support for our inpatients at both of our acute sites at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals. Your role is to line manage the team, be responsible for the every day activity ensuring patients get good quality support to combat their tobacco dependency and be the expert in tobacco dependency treatment across the Trust.
You will help increase the awareness of treatment options, ensuring availability of treatments by actively engaging with our Pharmacy colleagues, providing training and updates to various staff groups regarding tobacco dependency, liaise with our partners in various departments within the Trust and externally in community stop smoking services, Kent and Medway ICB and sister Trusts in the region.
You will help influence and advance further developments to the tobacco treatment programme from IT changes to acting on patient feedback using your imagination, nursing experience and skills and continually improve the service, making sure nationally set aims are being met. We follow the NHS England tobacco dependency delivery model and have started the inhouse service in September 2023 so the treatment set up already exists and we look forward to hearing from applicants who are enthusiastic to continue developing the service and making sure it is embedded into normal practice.
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please emailmtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.netif this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
