You'll spend time on the following:

• Working closely with the Treasury, Tax and Statutory Reporting teams to understand accounting implications of terms and conditions of intercompany arrangements, along with other significant intra-entity transactions and global initiatives across the Company.

• Supporting intercompany accounting transformation projects, including automation and process improvement.

• Proactively communicating with business partners in US and EMEA to resolve intercompany variances, reconcile any outstanding amounts on a timely basis and provide necessary support for local reporting purposes.

• Facilitating key month-end close responsibilities accurately and on a timely basis including preparation of monthly and quarterly intercompany invoice recharges, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analyses.

• Liaising with Corporate Tax to ensure annual recharges are correctly accounted for across entities globally in accordance with the Groupon Transfer Pricing framework.

• Coordinating with the Shared Service Centers to process intercompany invoices including receiving and posting invoices to the ledger and intercompany settlements.

• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies.

• Knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP is a plus

Job Overview

The Senior Analyst of Accounting Policy will work with the Vice President and Assistant Vice President of Accounting Policy, business partners in finance, accounting and external reporting, and stakeholders across the company to support the accounting for acquisitions and non-routine transactions, enhance and maintain the Company’s significant accounting policies, and create technical capacity in support of high-quality external disclosures as the Company’s size, scope, and complexity increases.

Responsibilities

• Support the accounting policy team in the research and preparation of technical accounting memos for non-routine and complex transactions, including business combinations and asset acquisitions, and routine assessments, including impairment analysis.

• Enhance and maintain the Company’s significant accounting policies to reflect changes due to new transactions, changes in the business, or new accounting standards issued.

• Monitor the activities of all accounting standard setting bodies (i.e., SEC, FASB), and work closely with members of Finance to assess the impact to the Company, raise awareness about applicability to the Company, and support the determination of any accounting impacts.

• Work closely with Investor Relations, Financial Reporting and FP&A in the preparation, review and validation of earnings releases, investor presentations, SEC filings, monthly and quarterly key metric disclosures, and other externally reported presentations with a view on compliance with Company policy and GAAP.

• Lead a team and work with subsidiaries to:
• Deliver robust and timely group reporting & analysis:
• Prepare monthly management accounts and consolidation of management accounts.
• Manage group and specific entity statutory financial statements.
• Prepare and submit weekly reporting.
• Reconciliation of intercompany AR & AP balances.
• Reconciliation of Interco loan balances on a monthly basis.
• Detailed analysis of Interco sub-con invoices.
• Detailed analysis of overhead expenses on a monthly basis.
• Periodical review of Accounts receivable and payable.
• Review and implementation of effective financial controls and monthly reconciliation.
• Prepare consolidated annual budget for group accompanies.
• Liaising with external auditors and other professional advisors.
• Intercompany and Related company Subcon invoices reconciliation
• Perform Monthly Bank reconciliation & GST reconciliation for Input Tax & Output Tax
• Prepare quarterly GST return
• Prepare tax schedules and assist in tax matters.
• Maintain Fixed Asset Register
• Ensure that accounting reports and supporting documents are in compliance with regulations, standards, and practices.

Responsibilities:

• Manage to maintain the necessary reports and journal entries to build and support closure and financial reporting procedures that adhere to the reporting timeframe and rules.
• In-charge in preparing audit, tax, and SOX accounting schedules.
• Work closely with the operations and accounting teams to ensure that accounting entries are entered into the ERP on time and correctly.
• Coordination of billing and costing operations, as well as ensuring that accounting/costing activities and work billings/recharges adhere to SOX Compliance and Standard Operating Procedures
• Analyze and reconcile account balances on a timely basis, resolving discrepancies or escalating as needed.
• Examine intercompany markups on billings and purchases to ensure that Transfer Pricing regulations are followed.
• Maintaining controls over accounting transactions and month-end closing processes to guarantee financial correctness and completeness.
• Work on withholding tax and GST compliance, including analysis and reconciliation.
• Engage in value-added initiatives and promote continual process efficiency improvements.
• Any additional ad hoc tasks delegated by Management.

Requirements:

• Degree in Finance, Accountancy or Business or equivalent
• At least 2 - 3 years of experience from MNC environment
• Prior experience in handling intercompany transactions and costing will be an added advantage
• Proficient in using MS Excel will be ideal
