The Opportunity

The Electrical System Engineer role will be responsible for the System Health of the plant, developing short to long term improvement plans, outage scope and defining the maintenance policy on their assigned systems. You will also actively participate in the work planning process providing engineering technical input as required ensuring prioritisation of work is based on the importance of equipment and its potential impact on plant performance.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll carry out the following roles and responsibilities as a systems engineer:

Be a responsible engineer for Electrical plant areas and act as the technical conscience for the assigned systems.

- Gain expertise in the assigned system(s) and provide technical advice.
- Ensure important equipment is identified and that correct preventative maintenance programmes are in place to prevent unanticipated equipment failures.

Who you are

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who will have a nuclear safety focus in all activities and responsibilities undertaken, you will also need to maintain knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards. Liaising with peers in other engineering groups within the fleet you will be required to share best practises and to continually improve local and fleet performance.


- You will have an Electrical Engineering background with relevant experience in industry as an electrical engineer.
- As a minimum, entrants will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent) Candidates with a relevant Degree may have an advantage.

· Design, specify & costing of detailed Subsystem, including:

Ø Interpreting customer requirement and producing fully detailed & compliant design.

Ø Interfacing with customer engineer for design definition.

Ø Interfacing with other system-wide designers for service definition.

Ø Interfacing with suppliers and vendors for product definition.

Ø Evaluating and costing of the most suitable products and system.

· During site implementation, testing & commissioning

Ø Leading the commissioning activities on site, as well as producing the commissioning documentation

Ø Providing support to the installation and maintenance works.

· Keep track of progress of all design & interface tasks

Ø Carrying out all assigned work efficiently, with a minimum of supervision,

Ø Expediting response and deliverables (documents & including engineering drawings, specifications, design reports and calculations, equipment details and other project information).

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

· Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering or related discipline (essential)

· Diploma or Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Telecommunications Engineering (preferred)

· More than 1 Year of direct experience in designing and implementing telecommunications networks.

· Completed design works of at least one project with scale and complexity similar to that of the Metro railway market segment (Advantage )

· Knowledge and experience with both Analog and IP CCTV, networking, and cabling infrastructure

· Proficiency with computers, networks and 3rd party software ( Microsoft )

· Capable of setting up/programming network Video Recording

· Knowledge and experience with Video Content Analysis (VCA)

· Experience with CCTV Coverage Design Tools

• Benchmark Performance: Push the limits of our products through performance benchmarking, ensuring we deliver solutions that outshine the competition. May have to collaborate with external hardware labs.
• Automated Test Architect: Spearhead the implementation of automated testing processes, leveraging your coding expertise in Java, C#, and/or Python to create robust automated test scripts. Drive efficiency and scalability in our testing efforts, ensuring thorough coverage of all critical scenarios.
• System Configuration Maestro: Play a vital role in system configuration, bringing your expertise to the table to optimize and fine-tune software and hardware integration for peak performance.
• Empower Users: Develop training documents for both internal and external users, ensuring they harness the full potential of our Video Analytics solutions.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
• Strong technical abilities and comfort working with various software programs
• Ability to do basic coding using at least one of the following programming languages: Java, C# and/or Python
• Understanding of microservices, basic networking, security and databases
• Understanding of hardware resources such as CPU, GPU and RAM
• Familiarity with testing processes, including creating a test plan and opening bugs
• Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a product development team
