The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant role funded by Centre Grant Programme “MOlecular Markers, MEchaNisms and their TherapeUtic Manipulation in CardioVascular Disease (MOMMENTUM-CVD)”> in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Department of Medicine. Research will be pursued across the translational spectrum from molecule to man in the basic and applied (clinical) sciences to provide improved risk stratification, treatment selection and monitoring of response to therapy in CardioVascular Disease (CVD). Key to our research agenda is expanded interrogation of finely annotated cardiovascular clinical cohorts and biobanks acquired in the course of predecessor CGs together with prospective initiatives sparked from these background data sets.

Of the eight themes in MOMMENTUM-CVD, Research Assistant would be assisting with Theme 7: Health Services research and implementation of enhanced post-myocardial infarction management, and Theme 8: Cardioinformatics – analysis of complex data sets, implementing Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence and publishing in scientific journals.

Appointments will be made on a yearly contract basis with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

• Experiment, implement, simulation and analysis of these models involving appropriate and relevant metrics.
• To train, refine, evaluate and cross validate these models to ensure accuracy, precision and integrity of analysis.

• To communicate and collaborate with other research entities and present findings to overseas/local conferences.
• Any other duties relevant to research not mentioned above that are assigned by PI.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor degree in any science technology field.
2. Competent in at least 3 or programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, STAT, MatLAB. (competent in all would be advantageous)
3. Competent in data visualization tools such as Tableau and matplotlib.
4. Previous experiences managing and worked on research datasets in public hospitals or any other healthcare systems would be very advantageous.
5. Able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative and collaborative nature with excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Job Scope

1) Provide in-class support and monitoring

The Special Needs Teacher Assistant (SNTA) will provide support to selected students with diagnosed or suspected special needs (SN) in the classroom setting. He/she will observe and work with specific students in the class to follow teacher instructions, stay on task, work completion, engage in positive behaviours, participate in classroom activitives and to ensure safety as well as a conducive learning environment for the students and others. He/she is required to monitor their progress in their learning or behaviours depending on the targeted skill to be taught to the student with SN.

2) Support students with diagnosed or suspected SN during school events and learning journeys

Together with the form teachers or subject teachers, the SNTA will support the students with SN during or after school events such as Learning Journeys, school camps, sports events, after-school programmes and other co-curricular activities.

3) Intervention work (group or individual)

The SNTA will work with students with SN on their specific learning needs outside of class setting. These learning needs can include reading fluency, receptive and expressive language, positive behaviour manangement, communication skills, self-management, self-control, study skills and/or strategies to focus on their strengths and learning.

4) Collaborate with school staff

SNTA will work closely with SEN Officer, SDT, form teachers and subject teachers to monitor and gather feedback and information on students with diagnosed or suspected SN or those showing at-risk behaviours.

5) Documentation of support and other administrative work

He/She will be required to document his/her work with these students, prepare SN teaching and learning resources, assist with any work-related administrative duties. He/she will also be required to attend case-related and school-wide meetings within the working hours.

6) Support school administration team (SAT)

He/She will be required to support the SAT in any administrative-related work during the school holidays.

Purpose of the post
