About the Role:

The Project Technical Resources team (PTR) is growing to better support Janelia Team Projects and laboratories. We are seeking full time technicians who have an interest in extracting information from 3D or 4D microscopy images or recorded animal behavior. This information will aid analysis of the experimental data or help establish automated image processing/machine learning pipelines. Technicians will typically be involved in at least two different projects. In addition to annotations, individual portfolios may include other tasks, such as performing quantitative animal behavior experiments or assisting in other areas of PTR support.

Temp-to-hire applicants will be trained in all required techniques upon starting work. After training, technicians may work under supervision by the scientific project lead, collaborating with other team members, labs/project teams, and support groups.

Please note: Applicants with prior experience in relevant annotation work and/or coding may be considered for immediate HHMI employment. Also, we have multiple openings for this position.

The School of Social Sciences is the largest school in the Monash Arts faculty, offering a wide variety of programs including Human Geography, Sociology and Anthropology, Criminology, International Relations, Politics, and Gender Studies. It is consistently ranked as one of the best social science schools in the world. Our Human Geography program is seeking to appoint three continuing, full-time academics who can contribute to and extend existing human geography research, teaching and engagement activities within the School of Social Sciences. You will join a team of outstanding researchers and educators who are engaged in tackling significant global challenges such as climate change and the intersections of environment, society and economy within Australia and around the world.

These Level B positions will suit active and innovative early career researchers who are keen to leverage the excellent research support services to develop their academic careers and contribute towards high quality teaching and graduate supervision. With the ability to collaborate effectively and to motivate and inspire learners, you will play a major role in our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs and lead research with a human geography focus.

As a Lecturer, you will lead your own research, collaborate on significant research projects, and where relevant, command leadership of a research team. We are seeking candidates who complement our existing strengths. Those with expertise in any area of Human Geography are welcome to apply. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Liu Boxiang on leveraging functional genomics approaches to understand the molecular mechanisms of complex diseases.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

• Bulk and single-cell RNA-seq analysis
• ATACseq data analysis and TF motif identification
• Molecular genetics experiments to identify phenotypic effect of mutant cell lines
• Small animal (e.g. mouse) work to validate cell line findings.
