The successful candidate will fulfil the primary roles on safety and facility management and to take on a secondary role of company security coordinator. His responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
Job Description:
Safety
- To manage the company’s safety and health management system
- To lead the Risk Management Team
- Raise, build and improve staff’s safety and health awareness and competencies
- Advise the researchers on the safety measures to be taken in the laboratories
- Monitor changes in local regulations regarding safety, health and environment and make recommendations to improve on the Safety Management System;
- Plan and conduct general safety and health inspections of labs, including checks on environmental management where appropriate; assess labs for their level of occupational safety and health hazard for the purpose of determining the frequency at which the labs are inspected;
- Review and follow up on all accidents, special occurrences and near misses;
- Formulate, implement and report on the safety training plan and safety education program;
- Ensure that statutory medical examinations for relevant staff are being conducted;
- Recommend safety standards and measures for new emerging technologies.
Facility management
- Responsible for managing research laboratories and testing facility to ensure safe and smooth operation for the conduct of R&D work.
- Scheduled regular maintenance and calibration of equipment to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
- Responsible for safety of laboratories and facility including housekeeping, proper storage and disposal of chemicals and wastes and upkeeping of safety and emergency equipment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirement and liaise with Singapore government agencies to apply or renew required statutory licenses for explosives and precursor materials manufacturing and storage.
- In charge of chemicals and explosives inventory and control including recording of usage by users and timely updating to ensure the quantity are within limits of the licenses.
Security
- Ensure all staff’s compliance of the established security implementation plans and SOPs.
- Liase with authorities and to obtain the necessary security clearance for facilities and personnel.
- Conduct security training and briefing to raise the security awareness of staff.
- Perform internal audit or review and work with ST Security Department or authority for the main audit.
- Be the SGsecure rep to raise awareness of SGsecure and implement its procedures in the company.
Job Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering / Explosive Engineering / Materials Science and Engineering
- Candidates with WSH-related qualifications will have added advantageous.
- Safety and health knowledge of a chemical R&D and production environment.
- Knowledge working in a chemical explosive environment will be an advantage.
