I. Mission of the Department: The Finance department in WWF Singapore is to provide donors, stakeholders, and business partners with sound financial and internal control and governance in alignment with the Singapore Charities Act, Financial Reporting Standards, and WWF policies. We focus on efficient operating systems and processes, information, analysis, and business insights needed for informed decisions, and strong financial resources to support WWF’s priority conservation activities in Singapore and the rest of the global network.
II. Major Functions: Deliver timely and accurate financial information and business performance insights for the operations of fundraising and conservation activities of WWF Singapore. Provide strategic financial planning, oversight of project expenditures and revenue, and cash management to maximise the efficient and effective use of funds. Drive accountability, control and compliance, and risk awareness by a high-performing team of talented finance professionals based on trust and mutual support.
III. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent should:
Analytics & Business Partnering
- Work with the FP&A Manager and business partners to use the right business performance management processes for performance tracking, variance analysis, and gap/risk identifications that help drive strategy to execution
- -Provide insights on the key metrics the business is trying to drive, and propose new possibilities or solutions to short-term business issues
- Business partner to conservation, communication, and marketing teams including budget control, income, cost, cash flow, and productivity analysis
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Work with the Finance Director and the Heads of Departments on high-level targets and assumptions to prepare and submit the department budgets
- Work with cross-functional counterparts to understand and challenge the components of forecasts to improve accuracy and quantify risks & opportunities
- Challenge business partners when budgets and forecasts are not delivering the business goals
- Forecast, monitor, and track project income utilisation and expenditures against budget, manage project cash flow, and identify funding needs
Process and Control
- Ensure effective department resource allocation through cost productivity analysis
- Implement best practice processes across the organisation to ensure consistency
- Review agreements from a financial perspective, including but not limited to accuracy of financial figures, alignment with WWF network standards/templates where applicable, budget and cash flow considerations, and completeness of supporting documents
- Constantly seek business process initiatives to improve overall productivity and thus achieve cost savings
Digital transformation support
- Work closely with IT and digital transformation project teams to ensure financial systems and data integration support the project’s goals
- Serve as a Finance subject matter expert for the digital transformation initiatives and participate in discussions on process, control and governance, as well as project performance management and user testing activities
IV. Profile:
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Commercial
- At least 6 years of financial planning and business partnering experience within an international organization, multinational company or charity with complex donor requirements.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Good knowledge of financial and strategic planning and analysis
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
- Experience in Power BI, Microsoft Dynamics or Workday ERP would be an advantage
- Familiar with good business process improvement practices
- Business acumen, analytical mindset and ability to balance multiple priorities and multi-task
- Mature and comfortable to present and challenge senior management
- Excellent communication skills with spoken and written fluency in English
- Team player
- An interest in conservation
