Additionally, this position may assist other teams in the QC Laboratory Operations team such as Stability, Sample Management, Technology Transfer, and Data Integrity teams.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Completes QC analytical instrument and software validation deliverables, writes GMP procedures, validation documents and executes test scripts. Approves final project documents and writes final validation summary reports.
• Acts as leader for other team members.  Writes, reviews and approves QC analytical instrument and software validation project plans. 
• Independently drives projects to on-time completion.  Collaborates and prioritizes with other QC leaders to ensure agreed upon timelines are met.
• Software administration responsibilities include conversion of test methods, batch records and other written source documents into instrument computer system software.
• Performs user and application software administration on Enterprise systems. Completes system audit trail reviews, monitors back-ups and performs validation maintenance on systems.
• Recommends and implements analytical instrument and software engineering controls for QC Laboratories. Ensures data integrity and IT/OT security by configuring computer operating systems and application security policies, file/folder permissions, data back-up scheduler, instrument parameters and method templates. May be ACSV SME during regulatory and customer Inspections and Audits.
• Performs all aspects of QMS process’ – Change Control, Deviations, CAPAs, Tasks Writes, reviews, assesses, and/or approves change controls for analytical instruments and software used in QC laboratories and manufacturing.
• Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with company SOPs and specifications, FDA, and cGMP regulations
• Identify compliance gaps and remediate these gaps as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Key Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s Degree required. Preferred area of study in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science or Related Science Fields

Job Description

It is critical that, for all company-sponsored clinical trials, patient safety, high quality data and compliance with company requirements and regulations are delivered and sustained. The Sr CCQM Lead supports large to medium size country/cluster clinical trial operations to achieve those objectives.  

Under the guidance of the Regional Director, Clinical Quality Management (RCQM), and in collaboration with the Clinical Research Director(s), the Sr CCQM Lead establishes and/or   local clinical Quality Management System (CCQMs) aiming to achieve the organizational strategic goals and business objectives.  

The role is responsible for oversight of all CQM activities in a country/cluster of countries, or to collaboratively oversee all CQM activities in a country with multiple CRDs aligned along TA and/or functional lines.    This includes line management of Country Clinical Quality Managers (CCQMs) and Associate Country Clinical Quality Managers (ACCQMs) as well as talent development in collaboration with RCQM.  

The role requires the ability to properly oversee and/or lead local quality operations to implement local/regional/global processes/procedures, to identify opportunities for process improvement, and to support continuous improvement initiatives. Advanced skills in strategic thinking, project management, ability to lead during ambiguity, analysis and risk-based decision-making and stakeholder management are required for this role.  

In addition, the Sr CCQM Lead supports audits, inspections, quality issue management as well as Quality Control and local training activities, as needed.   

Qualifications:  

• Bachelor's Degree.

• Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s Degree, PhD) preferred.  

Experience:  

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in clinical research including direct field monitoring experience or management/oversight of such individuals, with a demonstrated record of accomplishments. Experience in Country Operations preferred. 

• Minimum of 2 years´ experience in a functional and/or line management position.

• Deep knowledge and understanding of Clinical Trial processes, GCP and applicable clinical research-related regulations.

• Expert for any quality-related processes.

• Identifies process gaps / opportunities for process improvement with CCQMs and properly escalates to RCQM and/or Global Process Owners (if necessary).

• Leads, or oversees CCQMs/A CCQMs to lead, continuous quality improvements activities at the country level as agreed with Country/Cluster CRD and RCQM and supports or co-leads continuous improvements activities at the global/regional level.  

Training:  

• Local training point of contact and the liaison between local country operations and our Research Division Learning & Development (L&D), if applicable  

• In close cooperation with local country operations management and local CQM team, identifies / coordinates local training needs.  

• Supports local trainings (as needed).  

Quality Control (QC) Activities:  

• In conjunction with the local country operations management & local CQM team, coordinates and oversees all QC activities. This includes to ensure a proper execution of the In-house Quality Control Plan (IHQCP), the Quality Control Visits (QCVs) as well as any other QC Checks.

• In mutual agreement with local country operations management and the RCQM, performs QC activities (incl. QCVs) and conducts ad hoc site visits upon request. 

• On a regular basis and in collaboration with local country operations & local CQM team, identifies local trends, performs root-cause-analysis (if necessary), develops local action plan (incl. sharing of results and training of local country operations, if required).

• In agreement with the RCQM, presents trend analysis on QC data to the GCTO Leadership Team of the country/ies.  

• Ensures timely completion of Clinical Supplies GCP Investigations.  Audits &

Inspections:  

• Manages and supports activities during the preparation / ongoing / follow-up phase of an audit or inspection.

• In cooperation with local CCQM, local country operations and/or headquarters, performs root-cause-analysis for audit observations/inspection findings, manages and tracks the Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) and coordinates/facilitates/approves the responses to audit/inspection reports.

• On a regular basis and in collaboration with local country operations & local CQM team, identifies local trends, performs root-cause-analysis (if necessary and develops local action plan (incl. sharing of results and training of local country operations, if required).  Quality / Compliance / Privacy Issue

Escalation:  

• Communicates/escalates quality/compliance issues (incl. any potential trends) to local country operations management and RCQM.

• Escalates significant quality/compliance issues and supports investigations (fact finding, root-cause-analysis) as well as the reporting of ‘Serious Breaches’, if applicable.

• Serves as local POC or supports local POC in case of escalations/reporting of Privacy Incidents, if applicable.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Accountable for qualification of suppliers and co-packers prior to supplying, include activities of document review, supplier liaison and technical review, audits until approval.

· Manage supplier / co-packer audit, end to end co-packer assessment; i.e. conduct audit, provide timely updates on audit status and findings; and monitor co-packer performance post qualification, for full approval

· Responsible for qualification and validation of new lines, new processes and change of equipment. It involves sterility test plan designing and execution; CIP and Hygiene verification to meet F&N requirements before line approval for commercial runs.

· Responsible for qualification of new or alternative raw material, to ensure meeting to F&N food safety, regulatory and documentation requirement.

· To support to manage Quality Plan program for all Business Units, coordinate and engage business unit key stakeholders to review / maintain Quality Plans

· To support in collate and analyze Business units’ performance on food safety and quality compliance, product customer complaint trends and key risk indicators of Business units.

· Responsible for GTQM centralized shared point database, acts as database leader / power user trainer, to keep documents are updated / maintained for Group R&D and BUs reference. Support in Group R&D and Business units user access request processing and user access approval matrix maintenance.

· Act as GTQM Document Controller, ensure document master lists are maintained and updated, initiate documentation development / revision, to ensure document is updated to meet F&N standards and requirements

· Technical support Business units to drive continuous improvement, initiate positive change to deliver an efficient and value-adding process, conduct training or site visit if need to.

· Support to initiate the development and governance of corporate policies, guidelines, procedures.

· Assist in troubleshooting e.g. Quality/ process/ system issues as required

• Support the implementation of Quality Improvement Programme

The Hepatocyte Transplantation Group was established in 2001 to prepare human liver cells from donor organs under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conditions for clinical use. The activity takes place in the Cell Therapy Unit (CTU) where 4 other groups undertake cell and gene therapy manufacture. This unit is accredited by the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) for cell isolation and storage and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for the production of Specials or Investigative Medicinal Products. Hepatocytes (liver cells) are isolated from human liver tissue under sterile conditions and are prepared for infusions into paediatric patients with metabolic liver disease. If cells are not used immediately, they are cryopreserved and kept frozen in a Cell Bank until required. The Hepatocyte group have also developed an advanced therapy medicinal product involving cell encapsulation for the treatment of children with acute liver failure, whose manufacture also takes place in the CTU under GMP. The post holder is a member of a multidisciplinary team developing the use of hepatocyte transplantation in children with liver-based metabolic disorders. They will be based at two locations: the Institute of Liver Studies laboratories and the Cell Isolation Unit, both within the Cheyne Wing at Kings College Hospital.
