POSITION SUMMARY:

Athletic trainers work with patients/athletes to provide instruction on injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, and treatment. Additionally the athletic trainer will assist with administrative tasks whether in the athletic training room or clinic setting and conduct themselves in accordance with the professional standards set forth by the BOC and Penn Medicine/Lancaster General Health.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

• Will work to expand the programs market share along with the Sports Medicine Leadership. Will help to identify, build relationships with, and ultimately help to secure additional secondary school, college, and youth program contracts.

• Is responsible with aiding physicians in procedures, as needed.

• Responsible for reviewing medical records prior to appointments to ensure all needed information is available for physician review and if not, works to secure information prior to patient visit.

• Responsible for maintaining and monitoring of work schedule.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

• May provide input to Athletic Directors on budget as it relates to equipment and supply costs needed to maintain safety and high quality care.

• Assists in the scheduling of pre-participation school based physicals. The athletic trainer will be present at these events to help build relationships and name recognition amongst athletes and parents.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Treat-to-Target Serum Urate versus Treat-to-Avoid Symptoms in Gout Trial (TRUST trial) will test two different treatment strategies for gout. The trial will require two part-time research LPNs who will each manage participants in one of the two treatment strategies. The LPNs will be responsible for following a treatment strategy algorithm that includes gout education, lifestyle counseling, and pharmacologic management. Training on the treatment strategy algorithm will be conducted before any patients are enrolled.

The position will require 40% effort for a minimum of 2-3 years. There will be a mixture of virtual visits and on-site visits at Boston Medical Center. The individual will be actively involved in subject recruitment, data collection, adverse event monitoring and reporting, and ensuring compliance with human subjects’ regulations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures that established protocols are implemented, maintains protocol integrity, monitors participant’s status assuring safety, and plays a significant role in the education of clinical trial participants.
• Working with the PIs and the study coordinator, determines whether patients meet protocol inclusion criteria and assists with research subjects recruitment including obtaining informed consent.
• Establishes a therapeutic relationship with patients and families, providing the needed support to facilitate understanding of the disease process and the clinical trial, including information relative to study medication, study goals, and objectives.
• Reviews intake assessment with clinical team to confirm patients' medical conditions, readiness, and eligibility for study enrollment as a research participant. Establishes an appropriate plan of care for patient based on the study’s guidelines.

OTHER

• Provides patient education regarding protocol participation and provides additional information to participants to ensure their understanding and adherence to the program. 
• Responsible for scheduling of follow-up research study appointments for study participants which may require reminder phone calls, mailouts, or home visits.   
•  Orders, obtains (i.e., performs phlebotomy)and evaluates appropriate lab and diagnostic tests according to study protocols in order to determine the  treatment and follow-up plan for each study subject.
• Documents adverse events and severe adverse events, and follows up with the research team and the participant’s clinical team as necessary.​

This position is funded by a 2 - 5 year grant. There may be opportunity beyond this grant funding for position integration into ongoing operations.

EDUCATION:

• Graduate of an accredited program of practical nursing. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

About the Role

The position is primarily responsible for handling and delivering all the training logistical requirements and administrative support for AIA PH Academy

• Manages overall logistical concerns of AIA PH Academy, including but not limited to the following: travel arrangements, training supplies, and event execution.

An Operations Research Analyst conducts management, operational and organizational studies to identify and resolve operating problems and monitors, evaluate the effectiveness of City government services and provide a resource for strategic, fiscal and operational planning. Work of this class may involve supervising administrative analyst and fiscal personnel.

Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office and at work sites where the employee is exposed to no uncomfortable environmental or hazardous working conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

Organizational Function and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for instruction in General Engineering courses at the college level. This includes developing a relevant and progressive curriculum, designing and implementing effective learning strategies and environments, delivering instruction of high quality, assessing student learning, advising students, and participating in college service activities at the department, division and college levels.

This position reports to the Associate Dean - School of Engineering, Science and Mathematics.

Essential Duties:

1. Responsible for facilitating student learning in the Liberal Arts Transfer - Engineering program, as well as allied technician preparatory programs in the School of Applied Science, Engineering & Technology.  Depending on education and experience, courses taught may include, but are not limited to: Engineering Seminar, Intro to Engineering, Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Machine Design, Fundamentals of Engineering/Manufacturing Materials, Manufacturing Processes, Quality Systems, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, AC/DC Circuit Techniques and Principles, Circuit Modeling 1, Circuit Modeling 2, Introduction to Computer Engineering, Introductory Engineering Graphics, Reverse Engineering & SolidWorks Assemblies

POSITION SUMMARY: Plans, initiates, coordinates, implements, and oversees clinical trials within the LGHealth Research Institute under the direction of the clinical Principal Investigator (PI) who is responsible for the overall conduct and management of the clinical trial. Coordinates the daily clinical trial activities, and plays the critical lead role in the conduct of clinical studies in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.  Must display dedication, enthusiasm, commitment, confidentiality, and flexibility with cross coverage of sites and with on-call hours when required.

HOURS: Monday-Friday dayshift hours. No weekends/evenings, or holidays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

• Plans and coordinates assigned research studies, serves as principle liaison for the project, interfaces with research subjects and collects research data, oversees administrative support, develops appropriate tools needed to conduct the research, and maintains record keeping systems and procedures.
• Ensures all research activities occur in compliance with guidelines for human subject protection research.  Ensures all key personnel engaged in the research study have met training requirements.  Serves as a resource to other research staff members regarding assigned clinical protocols.

• Develops and implements recruitment strategies in accordance with sponsor requirements.  Oversees and conducts informed consent process under direction of Primary Investigator and maintains appropriate documentation according to GCP, FDA, and IRB guidelines.
• Maintains adequate inventory of study supplies. Oversees and maintains drug and medical device accountability according to regulatory guidelines for receipt, storage, dispensation, and return of investigational product according to SOPs policy on Investigational Drug/Device Accountability.
• Collaborates with other Research Coordinators, particularly in areas where clinical and non-clinical research areas interface.  Contributes to the mentoring of new research staff.  Functions as a resource for physicians, other health care providers, and ancillary support staff regarding care of the research participant as it relates to any given clinical research protocol; conducts staff in-services as appropriate.                         
• Coordinates and manages the patient assessments according to protocol standards at LGHealth locations, in a clinically safe and regulatory compliant manner.  Utilizes clinical knowledge and assessment skills necessary to evaluate, report, and record accurate medical information including response to therapy according to approved research protocol.
• Develops and maintains rapport with patients to promote adherence to treatment and data collection protocols.   Coordinates participant tests and procedures and maintains study timelines in data collection and completion of case report forms.
• Assures collected data for any approved research protocol is correct, sufficient, all inclusive, regulatory compliant and the integrity is intact.    Maintains study files in accordance with sponsor requirements and LGH SOP Policies, including consent forms, source documentation, narrative notes if applicable, case report forms, and investigational material accountability forms.
• Assures the source documentation of all research activities is completed and accessible for CRF completion, reporting purposes, and for site visits by Sponsors and other regulatory agencies.  Facilitates, conducts and oversees monitoring visits with Sponsors and other related agencies for the purpose of evaluating the accuracy and quality of the collected data.
• Maintains effective and ongoing communication with Sponsor, research participants and PI during the course of the study.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

• Other duties as assigned.
• Performs rotating evening and weekend On Call coverage for active research trials if required.
• Travels to various LGHealth facilities as required to execute trials.   Travels to investigator and clinical research coordinator meetings.
• Attends and participates in research team meetings; educational research and clinically relevant workshops; and sessions provided by LGH to maintain skill sets, knowledge base, and continuing educational credits for both  licensure and research certification renewals.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Bachelor’s degree in a health science or related field (eg, biology, public health, healthcare administration).
• Two (2) years’ experience in a research or clinical environment.
• Working knowledge of medical and research terminology.
• Comprehension of Federal Regulations for Human Subjects in research.
• Comprehension and certification in Good Clinical Practices (ICH/GCP) for human research.
• Computer Competency including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, electronic data capture and electronic health records (EHR) navigation.

• Research professional certification (CCRP) or willingness to pursue certification.
