The Tax Manager provides full leadership and supervisory responsibility. Provides operational/service leadership and direction to team(s). Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge through provision of value-added perspectives or advisory services. May contribute to the development of new techniques, models and plans within area of expertise. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Generally has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness of end results and shared responsibility for planning and budgets. Work affects an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family. Full supervisory responsibility, ensuring motivation and development of team through professional leadership to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary and terminations as well as direction of daily tasks and responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall management of the tax liabilities, of Citi, both directly and in connection with transactions with clients, including the related compliance, financial reporting, planning and controversy processes.
- Contributes to the planning, accounting, filing and the reporting of tax liability of the company.
- Assists in determining and compiling information required to satisfy income tax filing and related requirements at all levels of jurisdiction.
- May participate in managing payments to tax authorities in compliance with specific tax regulations.
- Manages professional team(s) and department(s).
- Integrates expertise and industry expertise within a defined area.
- Advises on standards around which others will operate.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of how areas harmoniously integrate within the sub-function.
- Coordinates and contributes to the goals of the entire function.
- Uses communication and diplomacy skills to guide and influence others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasionally external customers.
- Manages a small team, or function as a single incumbent with management responsibilities for a function.

- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
This position consists of carrying out tax compliance and tax accounting functions including:
- Technical knowledge of taxes: income and non-income taxes, VAT, withholding taxes, and related tax matters for countries covered by the LATAM Tax Centralization Unit (TCU) following Risk and Controls Guidelines.
- Interaction with vendors, managing different deadlines, coordinating with different areas.
- Scheduling different tasks and following upon their completion.
- Providing analysis on different tax matters, particularly on tax advisory and tax litigation
- Interaction with different stakeholders in the related countries and the region in functions like Finance, Operations, Businesses, plus external counsels hired to assist in tax compliance matters, plus with Corporate Tax as well as with Regional Finance representatives.
Knowledge/Experience:
- Graduated in Law, a specialization in tax law would be an advantage.
- Previous tax experience, at least 4 years would be an advantage.
- Be able to demonstrate experience with tax matters.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office.
- Knowledge of financial sector would be an advantage.
- Able to demonstrate experience of suggesting pragmatic solutions to problems and conclude where appropriate.
- Demonstrate experience of working to multiple deadlines.
- Be able to work unsupervised on day-to-day responsibilities.
- Demonstrate experience of working as part of a team to achieve team goal
- Demonstrate ability to manage several different issues and be able to manage own time appropriately.
- Demonstrate an ability to quickly understand new technical issues.

- Experience in tax audits and tax advisory
- Analytical skills
- English advanced at least B2.
- MS Office literacy,
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in law.
- Previous Tax experience related to one or some of the following LATAM countries: Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panamá, Dominican Republic, Perú and Ecuador.
- Preferable to have work experience in US multinationals
- Very good knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel.
