Exec Summary of Role:

As part of its manufacturing and research laboratory in Victoria, DiviGas is looking for a Membrane Research Engineer to support the ongoing research and development and product testing of its proprietary membrane technology. This position will support the technical team, and refine the product formulation and production methodology to prepare for commercialisation at full scale. The Membrane Research Engineer will support the Head of Research and Development and the CTO in the development of both new and existing products in various gas separation technology and adjunct technologies.

We are seeking a passionate, detail-oriented Research Assistant to assist in community based studies on early detection and prevention of cognitive decline in seniors.

Purpose of the post

To assist investigators in conducting research studies according to study protocol, Singapore Guideline for Good Clinical Practice (SGGCP) and other applicable regulatory and ethical requirements as well as institutional policies.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Coordinate the submission of new ethics applications, study amendments and annual reports.
2. Work closely with principal investigators, research fellows, and program manager to execute studies.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Research Officer with expertise in synthetic biology and bioinformatics to spearhead our innovative projects at the intersection of these fields. The ideal candidate will drive forward our research agenda, leveraging their deep understanding of synthetic biology principles and bioinformatics tools to lead interdisciplinary teams towards project success. This role requires strong leadership, technical proficiency, and strategic thinking to advance our scientific objectives and contribute to groundbreaking discoveries in synthetic biology.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Research Leadership:
Lead the design and execution of research projects at the forefront of synthetic biology, integrating bioinformatics approaches for data analysis and interpretation.
Develop and communicate a clear scientific vision, setting strategic research goals aligned with organizational objectives.

Project Planning and Execution:
Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and milestones in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Oversee project execution, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Provide scientific guidance and technical expertise to research teams, troubleshooting challenges and driving innovative solutions.

Bioinformatics Analysis and Integration:
Apply bioinformatics tools and methodologies to analyze genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data relevant to synthetic biology projects.
Integrate bioinformatics analyses into experimental design and data interpretation, driving insights and guiding research directions.

Team Leadership and Mentorship:
Mentor and support team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive research environment.
Provide scientific leadership, guidance, and technical training to research staff, empowering them to excel in their roles.

Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate research findings, progress, and implications to internal and external stakeholders through presentations, publications, and reports.
Collaborate with academic and industry partners to leverage complementary expertise and advance research objectives.

Regulatory Compliance and Ethical Standards:
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards governing synthetic biology research.
Collaborate with regulatory affairs teams to facilitate regulatory approvals and adherence to best practices.

Requirements:

• B.Sc in Synthetic Biology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, or related field.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience
• Extensive experience leading interdisciplinary research teams in synthetic biology or related fields.
• Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and programming languages commonly used in genomic and proteomic analysis (e.g., Python, R, BLAST, UCSC Genome Browser).
  Strong understanding of synthetic biology principles and techniques, including DNA synthesis, assembly, and characterization.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of fostering collaboration and innovation.
• Experience with regulatory compliance processes and standards applicable to synthetic biology research (e.g., biosafety regulations) is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic research plans, driving scientific advancement and contributing to organizational goals

Responsibilities:

1. Capital Management:
- Monitor the company’s liquidity and capital position to ensure solvency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Implement capital management strategies to optimize the company's capital structure.
- Participate in annual capital planning exercise, collaborate with various business units (in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia) to assess capital needs, align business and product strategies, and identify risks and opportunities associated with the capital projection.
- Analyze and forecast the company's capital and solvency position.
- Participate in Business Planning and Group Stress Testing and project the investment returns and assets-related risk charges.
- Support the company’s financial reporting.
- Construct and manage the company’s Matching Adjustment portfolios.

2. Fund Transfer Pricing (FTP):
- Develop and maintain the company's FTP framework, ensuring alignment with the company's overall financial strategy and insurance value creation chain.
- Apply the FTP framework and attribute total comprehensive income into various functions such as investment and ALM.
- Report and monitor the FTP performance to continuously optimize the risk and return of the balance sheet through clear accountability and segregation of responsibilities.
- Ensure transparency and accuracy in FTP reporting to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

• Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
• Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
• Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial science, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field.
• 4 to 6 years of experience in actuarial related roles, with a focus on capital management and/or valuation.
• Good progress in professional actuarial qualification (e.g., FSA, FIA, or equivalent).
• In-depth knowledge of capital requirements and accounting standards for insurers in Singapore, and familiarity with trends in capital requirements and accounting standards for insurers globally.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Familiar with Data Analytics tools such as Python and SQL
• Demonstrates alignment with the organisation’s core values through expected behaviours.
• High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
• Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.
