Qualifications:
Able to perform all tasks in assigned operations listed below and operate all respective equipment at a rate equal to or above established standards while maintaining all quality and GMP standards.
Assignments may be in any of the following areas:
ISM/Sterilizer/Inspection
Plunger Rod/Flow Wrappers
Multi Vac/Case Pak
Essential Functions:
Machine Operation
Continually monitor operations for product quality and equipment performance.
Make adjustments to equipment as needed to maintain process quality and productivity.
Perform or assist with product or equipment changeovers.
Assist line technicians or setter/operators with equipment repair or trouble shooting.
Keep machinery, work area and floors neat and orderly and comply with GMP requirements.
Perform quality inspections, process tests and record data accurately as required.
Communicate with utilities or department scheduling group to maintain minimal material inventory levels.
Work as team member to develop optimal task methods.
Other: Must be able to work 12-hour shifts and take individual ownership in position.

Job Summary
The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for following established instructions for the execution of specific tasks in a biotechnology manufacturing setting, including the execution of manufacturing orders. The Manufacturing Technician should identify potential problems and bring them to the attention of the supervisor. They participate in continuous improvement projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
Material Preparation per established procedures.
Perform inspection, verification for calibration and maintenance of equipment.
Maintains related logs and manufacturing records.
Performs area in-process testing as requested.
Reclaim and re-test of resins.
Performs daily working area cleaning tasks.
Performs packing, cleaning and equilibration of chromatography columns as requested and scheduled.
Maintains inventory of chemicals and lab supplies required for manufacture. Completes material order transactions in SAP system and performs the required inventory control activities to maintain accuracy.
Support set up and manufacturing activities for the following areas: tissue culture, purification and conjugation.
Processes cell supernatant to remove debris and to concentrate product before purification.
Formulates monoclonal antibody reagents using established documentation.
Manufactures buffers and solutions using established procedures.
Uses equipment such as pipettes, micro-pipettes, balances, pH and conductivity meters, and UV/Visible spectrophotometers.
Completes assigned manufacturing tasks.
Complete Filling & Packaging process by scheduling, filling, labeling, bagging, pouching and vialing for: pellets, purified and conjugated materials, as required.
Promotes a safe work environment by providing recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment, following safety procedures, participating in Environment Health and Safety (EH&S) programs, initiating a corrective action whenever a hazard is identified, notifying supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.
Supports Quality Assurance by keeping abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and aligns with those requirements, participating as required in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work, bringing regulatory compliance questions/issues to next level of management.
Maintain good housekeeping practices.
Provide recommendations to support systems that continuously improve product/process quality and product availability, reduce cost, and increase production capability.
Participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Position Summary:
Assigned a mentor who will direct their summer work experience. Work assignments will be commensurate with the student's academic background to take advantage of their technical expertise and provide real life application of their classroom knowledge. At the same time, opportunities will be provided for students to expand their knowledge outside the boundaries of their classroom experiences. Typical roles our Mold Repair interns experience will include Mold Repair Technicians and Department Mold Technicians with exposure to mold maintenance and repair, and setting/pulling molds in production. Position Summary:
This position will ensure that Manufacturing teams have the correct software and hardware installed in the equipment necessary to transform raw materials into finished product. Responsible to specify, design, build/purchase, and install new production equipment required to meet increased production needs. Provide technical support to maintain, repair and/or replace equipment, as well as modify existing production equipment to improve both reliability and functionality. Support and drive engineering activities for new products, prototype development runs and drive commercialization of new processes while utilizing methods to minimize waste and maximize efficiencies. Duties/Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Execution – With guidance from the Controls Designer, prepare and implement project or improvement plans for areas of responsibility including but not limited to: efficiency improvements, cost reduction or quality improvement programs, new product support and other process improvements. The plan or proposal is to include the proposed technical approach, estimated implementation costs, estimated resource needs, and a time schedule, (Gantt chart). Act as the driving force for the controls project help coordinating resources and activities necessary to ensure on time execution to the project or process improvement plan, identify and work through barriers that hinder progress.
Technical Writing / Documentation – Prepare manufacturing specifications related to controls, thoroughly document all equipment/machines with accurate and clear detailed prints and maintenance instructions related to controls.
Validation – With the assistance of the QE, Controls Designer and validation team support in creating necessary documentation associated with the BD change control process and coordinates validation or verification activities to ensure on time execution according to the project or process improvement plan.
Manufacturing Support – Provide technical guidance as needed to manufacturing and hourly technical personnel during the startup of new or changed products and processes. Use of good decision making, problem solving and trouble-shooting techniques will be needed to minimize the potential or correct ongoing manufacturing issues.
Capital Request / Capital Management – Support in planning for procurement of capital equipment including obtaining of quotes, vendor investigation, budgeting, and scheduling. Prepare controls specifications, place orders, coordinate procurement, install equipment, debug and coordinate the startup of new or modified equipment from outside firms or as modified internally, manages capital spending on assigned projects to ensure spending in accordance with the plan capital budget.

Prepares malemaide and raw materials based on production plan requirements.
Maintains chromatography systems in order, including column packaging cleaning and equilibrations and report any breakdowns.
General Responsibilities
Provides in-process testing as required.
Completes materials movement transactions on SAP system and performs the required inventory control activities to maintain accuracy.
Maintains detailed production records.
Generates Quality Reports such as Out of Specification Reports, Deviations Reports, etc.
Initiates and participates in investigations following established quality assurance procedures and approved protocols, instructions etc.
Performs cleaning, inspection, verification for calibration and maintenance of equipment. Maintains related logs and records. Performs equipment troubleshooting.
Participates in the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
Participates in project related tasks as required.
Promotes a safe work environment. Provides recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Follows safety procedures. Participates in Environment Health and Safety (EH&S) programs. Initiates a corrective action whenever a hazard is identified. Notifies supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.
Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements. Participates as required in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work. Brings regulatory compliance questions/issues to next level of management.
Actively participate in the Daily Management System by attending, leading shift start up meetings, and providing appropriate metrics
Participates in Continuous Improvement Projects related tasks as required.
Provide recommendations to support systems that continuously improve product/process quality and product availability, reduce cost, and increase production capability.
Maintain good housekeeping practices.

Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of methods required to create, maintain and test Master and Working Cell Banks of antibody hybridomas.
Knowledge of the operation of related instrumentation such as Micropipettes and volumetric devices, Microscopes, Micro plate reader, CO2 Incubators, centrifuges and pipette and Biosafety Hoods.
Knowledge in the purification of monoclonal antibodies from serum/ascites fluid and tissue culture supernatant by appropriate serum fractionation and/or column chromatographic techniques.
Basic knowledge in chemicals and kinetic reactions.
FPLC (Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography), HPLC (High Pressure liquid Chromatography), UV monitors, chart recorders, electrophoresis and size exclusion columns knowledge preferable.
Knowledge in the formulation of reagents.
Knowledge of the operation of related instrumentation such Spectrophotometry and Centrifuges.
Knowledge of GMP, FDA, ISO and OSHA requirements highly desirable.
Knowledge of SAP highly desirable.
Working knowledge of MS Windows environment software such as MS Office.
Effective skills using analytical thinking, problem solving, interpersonal relationships, written and oral communication, and planning/organization.
Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures.
Fully Bilingual (English and Spanish).
Willing to travel to US mainland and offshore.
Education and Experience
Requires a Bachelors Degree in a related scientific field such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology or Engineering.
A minimum of one year of experience in a laboratory or pharmaceutical/medical device/biotechnology environment or equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Overview

Able to perform all tasks in assigned operations listed below and operate all respective equipment at a rate equal to or above established standards while maintaining all quality and GMP standards.
