The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

• managing audit engagements which include initial engagement planning, analysis of controls and processes, preparation and review of audit documentations and management letters and reports and monitoring of engagement progress against budget and timeline
• developing and maintaining long-term client relationship and identifying business development opportunities
• coaching and developing team members to achieve technical competencies and efficient performance

The ideal candidate should have:

• a recognised degree in Accountancy and professional accounting qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CPA Australia or equivalent
• external audit experience of  7 years or more in a mid-tier or large accounting firm and experience in handling a portfolio of clients in a medium to large professional services firm
• a good understanding of pertinent business and risk management issues and familiarity with the regulatory and reporting environment. Good working knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, Japan GAAP, J-SOX and SOX-404 is greatly advantageous
• must be proficient in both spoken / written English and Japanese to communicate with our clients, including Japanese clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the execution of audit engagements for financial services clients, with a focus on banking and capital markets, in compliance with relevant regulatory and professional standards.
• Ensure the timely and accurate completion of audit portfolios, managing budgets, resourcing strategies, billing, and collections.
• Oversee the management of audit portfolios, including monitoring progress against plans, timelines, and milestones.
• Drive the client experience by managing client relationships and accounts effectively.
• Build and manage a professional audit team, providing regular coaching and feedback for continuous performance enhancement.
• Engage the team to deliver value-added services to clients.
• Maintain a working knowledge of accounting literature, trends, and technical issues relevant to the financial services industry.
• Stay informed about industry trends to identify potential issues, risks, and best practices.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, preferably with a professional qualification in CA (Singapore) or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of audit experience.
• Experience in auditing clients in banking and capital markets, payments, and/or fintech space preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of risk management, compliance requirements, auditing standards, and accounting principles.
• Excellent project management and time management skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing demands.

What you'll need to succeed
This role is open to candidates with minimum 5 years in accounting/finance roles, including 1-2 years managerial experience. Experience at an accounting/audit firm or outsourcing corporate secretarial firm preferred, due to the nature of the role.
