The post holder will be expected to deliver stroke care across all areas of the pathway including HASU and ASU ward rounds, TIA clinic and Stroke follow up clinics. They will work alongside our multidisciplinary team (MDT) of stroke physicians, stroke nurse consultant, stroke nurse specialists, clinical neuropsychologist, and stroke therapists. Job Responsibilities

• To perform at the same level of duties (including calls) and responsibilities (same roster) of a Medical Officer. Their competence will be individually assessed by the Head of Department (HOD) and thereby given clinical duties accordingly.
• To assist, guide and supervise the House Officers in their duties, and review all new cases as soon as possible following admission and check on the House Officer's findings and notes
• To write medical reports. Urgent reports should be prepared within a week and non-urgent reports within two weeks.
• To ensure the accuracy and completion of the Hospital Inpatient Discharge Summary (HIDS) Forms and the diagnosis & disease index on the front sheet of the case records. In cases of difficulty, the Senior Medical Staff (Registrar and above) should be consulted.
• To assist the Senior Medical Staff (Registrar and above) in the running of Specialist Outpatient Clinics, and should not make any major changes to the treatment regime or discharge long-term patients from follow up without the prior approval of the Senior Medical Staff.
• To update relatives on patients' conditions.
• To explain procedures to patients and their relatives, as well as obtaining consent for such cases, if so designated by their Senior Medical Staff.
• To sign Death Certificates and obtain consent for autopsy of deceased patients.
• To inform the Senior Medical Staff of any major problems and discharges against medical advice. They are permitted to counsel patients who wish to be discharged against medical advice.
• To participate in the department's teaching activities as directed by the HOD.

General Responsibilities as Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine The following is not an exhaustive nor exclusive list of the duties of a consultant. The appointee is expected to: Deliver day-to-day clinical care and leadership on the Geriatric Medicine wards or within the Acute Frailty bed base on AMU.
