Your new role This opportunity for a project management / operation manager will predominantly drive your career growth within defence. You will be involved in a small team delivering into some of the most exciting projects in the Land 400 space with in defence. The role will require you to be diverse, strategic and adaptive to change. You will be growing a team and reporting into the General Manager to help grow and deliver on highly exciting projects with defence both above and below the line. You will be involved in team growth over the next 2-3 years and be a core team member along the journey. This is a hugely exciting project for someone looking to get diverse experience across defence. Key Responsibilities

Maintain customer satisfaction and ensure the business unit achieves customer deliverables to cost, schedule and quality
Oversee daily operations and programs
Ensure customer delivery scope and commercial agreements are aligned
Provide technical and process related advice, information, and documentation to Project Team Technicians that includes; the safe operation of the fixturing, tooling, manufacturing process
Leadership and mentoring of a small management team and employee group
Assist the GM in marketing and business development initiatives in conjunction with Sales & Marketing
Participate in expansion / growth activities (major project bids, investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.)

What you'll need to succeed

Proven leadership experience, experience managing engineering programs, preferably with aerospace or land systems experience.
Experience working in a project engineering environment and understanding of project management methodologies.
Demonstrated experience managing Australian Defence projects and contracts. Understanding of ASDEFCON contract framework.
Knowledge of Defence Security responsibilities (ITAR, DISP, COMSEC, etc)
Bachelor or Postgraduate Degree (i.e. BSc / Engineering / BAMSc / MBA)
Australian Citizen, eligible for Defence Clearance
Relevant Accreditations/Certifications/Memberships (i.e. Engineering, Project Management, Defence Networks)

This exciting role will look at existing programme managers or senior project managers looking to take their next step. Your new role You will provide leadership and project management oversight of the research and development (R&D) for the program, deliver on key aspects of portfolio management, provide guidance and instruction on project direction and focus, and play a role in business development strategy and bids. The project will have a group of engineers and external engineers reporting into you. Managing multiple projects on a day-to-day basis, including the facilitation of project agreements, initiation of new projects, monitoring project progress and managing collaborative project teams

Key focus on delivering budget on time and within scope for a portfolio of projects
Report on project progress, budget and risks to senior management as required
Analytic strategic thinking / problem-solving
Negotiate project agreements

What you'll need to succeed

Qualifications in Chemical / biological / engineering or relevant - relevant experience required.
Experience in management of collaborative / multi-party, research and development projects is preferred
Experience in portfolio management, including risk/issues evaluation and management, project planning/scheduling and portfolio budget preparation, monitoring and reporting
Strong facilitation and influencing skills in a respectful manner
Ability to identify issues and find solutions or escalate appropriately
Ability to obtain or have Security Clearance: NV1 or above.
