Position Summary:

Kemper has an immediate need for a skilled and motivated Senior Actuarial Analyst to work with the Pricing Team in Alpharetta, GA.  The Senior Actuarial Analyst performs complex pricing analyses and provides actuarial support for filings.  Prepares and analyzes complex internal management information.  This position works closely with the Actuarial AVP, Actuarial Director, Actuarial Manager, Product Managers and Data Scientists to develop appropriate pricing and product strategies to support organizational goals. 

This is a fully remote position.

Please note, you must work Eastern or Central Standard Time hours.

Position Responsibilities: 

• Produce sound rate level indications with intermediate understanding of actuarial ratemaking methodology.

• Support state filing process with actuarial memorandum, actuarial filing forms, correspondence with regulators, measurement of rate impacts, and documentation of analysis.

• Quantify, validate, and prepare proposed rates.

• Pull, aggregate, and query ratemaking data.

• With supervision, develop recommendation on rates and rating plan to satisfy financial objectives of the organization.

• Perform complex trend analysis (e.g. frequency and severity trends)

• Automate and enhance processes to improve efficiencies.

• Support and/or lead the development and design of new plans, programs, processes, products up to moderate complexity.

• Complete pricing projects and ad-hoc requests.

• Support management information to inform business partners on the health of the business.

• Communicate effectively with management and business partners.

• Adhere to internal and external compliance requirements/standards.

• Assist with the development of junior-level staff.

Position Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics or related field, or the equivalent in related work experience.

• 4 plus years of experience as an actuarial analyst or quantitative pricing analyst, or related experience; Property & Casualty experience preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL, SAS, VBA, Python or R required.

• Successful completion of 5 or more actuarial exams or demonstrates equivalent knowledge.

• This position is a remote role and can work from any US based home.

The range for this position is Hiring Range $87,400.00 to $150,200.00. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. The Opportunity

As a Senior Actuarial Analyst on the modeling team of in MassMutual Ascend’s ALM and Capital group, you will help to maintain and enhance our asset-liability model in a strong model governance environment. You will collaborate with team members to enhance our modeled cash flow projections for asset adequacy testing, duration monitoring, and other business needs. In FIS Prophet, there is opportunity for you to help customize the coding to better match the unique characteristics of our diverse annuity products.

Job Responsibilities

• In a team setting, maintain and enhance our asset-liability projection model in FIS Prophet
• Help to increase speed, accuracy and efficiency in reporting model results
• Support research on how model changes impact results
• Aid in model governance and documentation
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or working toward ASA
• At least 2 years actuarial work experience in annuities
• Must have passed the SOA Fundamentals of Actuarial Mathematics exam
• Experience with actuarial modeling platforms, with preference toward FIS Prophet
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Results oriented: Ability to complete tasks on schedule

This role is home based role with travel as required to our client's sites. Study support is available.

You will be working directly with a client team, either on-site or remotely, liaising and working closely with them to deliver actuarial solutions to our Life Insurance portfolio of customers. The nature of our work means no two projects are ever alike and can include financial reporting, modelling, regulatory changes, remediation, and pricing.

Our team are exposed to a wide aspect of actuarial specialties, whilst also engaging with key stakeholders at some of the largest Life Insurance companies in the country. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, contribute to and oversee actuarial projects and deliverables
• Delight clients by delivering high quality actuarial work
• Work closely with key stakeholders at the client, keeping them informed of progress
• Design, propose and implement solutions, understanding the impact to the business
• Seek out further opportunities for work with clients
• Plan and prioritise deliverables and resources for projects

What we’re looking for:

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience of actuarial work in Life Insurance
• Exposure to multiple areas of actuarial work including financial reporting, pricing, IFRS17, modelling, actuarial project work and an understanding of your role in the context of a wider organisation
• Progressing with actuarial exams, although we will also consider those who have experience but have stopped taking actuarial exams
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a format and approach appropriate to the receiving stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel. Experience in modelling platforms or programming languages is beneficial.
