Reporting to Head of Wheat Research / Head of G&O South and SouthEastAsia (SSEA), this position assists in the generation of profit by providing traders with information pertaining to domestic and export commodity markets. This analytical role is responsible for maintenance, management and proactive update of information, and its synthesis/communication to the global team.

Main Responsibilities

1) Maintain and analyse all relevant data and provide input into trading strategy for SEA

• Provide, maintain, and update relevant SSEA crop production, consumption and imports of wheat/barley, with an emphasis on demand switches between various commodities (local vs. imported grains, substitution with rice & other feed grains), and on estimates of domestic crops of competing grains in SSEA
• Identify and propose trading opportunities based on the analysis of wheat/corn/other feedgrains’ relative competitiveness.
• Provide updates of regulatory, political and consumer preference changes affecting each commodity or downstream use of commodity

2) Engage with internal and external information sources

• Leverage LDC market position and create relationships with a view to increase the inflow of relevant information available to the global commercial/trading team
• Ensure constant communication with different destination and origin teams to ensure flow of information related to SSEA flows within the Product Line. Participate to all relevant daily/weekly product line calls

3) Develop a detailed analysis of feed and milling wheat import demand for the region

• Work with commercial team in SSEA to develop a detailed understanding of Southeast Asian feed and milling wheat demand
• Monitor and regularly communicate to the global team the wheat-corn spreads in the various SEA countries, as well as the impact of such price moves on feed wheat & corn demand
• Provide a breakdown by quality (feed / milling) of the import demand of all the SEA countries. Build and refresh databases such as milling capacities, domestic crops, vessel line up, market shares, etc

4) Other duties as required

Experience

• At least 3-5 years’ relevant experience in agricultural markets, preferably bulk commodity export.
• Full understanding of balance sheet analysis including the factors which impact each component of the balance sheet.
• Ability to decide when and how best to communicate major balance sheet adjustments
• Understanding of the market and influence of other markets, including other domestic and international commodity markets
• Ability to source, aggregate, analyse, maintain up to date data and research material
• Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills and an open and inquiring mind
• Ability to interpret and analyse qualitative and quantitative information.

The Carbon Mitigation Research Oversight Analyst (on Climate Change) will support our research teams with interpreting the relevant regulatory developments, such as the EU Action Plan and TCFD reporting initiatives, developing IP, and implementing related research methodologies. Job Responsibilities

Develop Intellectual Property:
• Develop expertise in understanding Climate-related regulations and be able to translate this into research requirements;
• Track developments in climate-related issues, including current and emerging thematic trends, drivers, key players, best practices, the regulatory landscape, etc., and explain to climate analysts how these developments might influence their research findings/ assessments;
• Provide climate-related insights, supporting the development of whitepapers or other Sustainalytics’ thought-leadership pieces;

Content Leadership at the Research Team level:
• Develop a deep understanding of each indicator as defined by the Climate Solutions’ suite of products, interpret corporate disclosure on carbon;
• Support the research teams in making robust assessments in corner cases where guidance does not suffice;
• Support the development of a strategy to enhance climate-related content skills among analysts and implement the capacity-building program;
• Contribute to the improvement of analyst guidance and training on the Climate Solutions’ suite of products;
• Perform content quality checks on the research;

Support Clients and Prospects:
• Provide service/support to the Global Client Relations and Product teams in responding to client inquiries, as needed, in calls and in e-mails;

Qualifications

• Possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences with a robust foundation in statistics, econometrics, or analytics;
• Preferably have at least 2 years of relevant experience in basic research and project management;;
• Have an interest on Singapore and the region, including but not limited to issues related to race and religion, inequality, social diversity, and geopolitical dynamics;
• Keen to work and learn across disciplines and subject matters; and
• Possess Excellent writing, analytical and presentation skills.

Job Description

Position Summary:

Conducts research analysis on issues related to energy, cybersecurity, and federal funding more broadly through the Department of Energy (DOE) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and other agencies as needed. Works on the execution of federal funding grants as well as the development of new federal funding proposals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Works with NRECA’s subject matter experts (SME) on renewable energy, distributed generation, energy storage, microgrids, cybersecurity, and other areas as needed. Develops subject matter expertise on energy and the cooperative market as well as in operational and information technology related to cybersecurity for utilities.
• Conducts primary research and drafts technical papers. May contribute to member engagement in specific areas and partner with NRECA associate members and the industry for support and endorsements. Participates in exploring program and project partnerships with industry stakeholders, including national laboratories and federal government agency executives, senior advisors and project managers with funding authority. 
• Participates in research project performance, budgets and compliance with reporting requirements.
• Works directly with members and industry stakeholders during the research design and supports the pursuit of mutually beneficial opportunities and collaborative efforts, including but not limited to: external funding agencies, such as the Department of Energy (DOE), vendors and other partners (EPRI, TVA, National Labs, universities, federal agencies). 
• Uses technical information to advise on trends for the technical direction of the industry with key stakeholders; helps with defining NRECA research and position on technical issues; and represents co-op interests. Participates in NRECA’s efforts to supporting the industry dialogue by conveying technical insights and research results and engaging the network at industry and NRECA meetings, statewide meetings, national conferences, etc. May communicate project learnings through technical papers on emerging technologies and analysis of technical and business conditions, and participation in NRECA webinars, podcasts and other outreach. 
• Assists with member engagement through preparation of engagement scripts, conducting telecommunications and electronic communications with members, including identifying their interests and activities in the federal funding initiatives. May present at member events including individual cooperative meetings, statewide meetings and other conferences.
• Creates technical content to support NRECA’s Education and Training, Communications, Government Relations, Touchstone Energy Cooperative and Associate Member efforts. 
• Contributes to support, advice and may make recommendations to participating co-op representatives to frame use of research, new research, develop new research concepts, and provide technical research reviews. Reviews research products.
• Monitors industry developments and stays abreast of pertinent regulations and political dialogue to input into forecasts of changes in standards for distributed energy resources and to identify research opportunities. Contributes technical concepts to support business development, funding applications, and contracting for applicable research projects.

Qualifications

Formal Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as energy/environmental policy, economics, cybersecurity, engineering, or a similar discipline related to energy policy, innovation, energy modelling, cybersecurity or environmental social science or equivalent experience.

Experience and Certifications Required:
2+ years of experience in economics, energy, or environmental policy analysis (relating to energy supply, renewal energy and consumption), or power engineering, and/or cybersecurity is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred (as demonstrated by prior work experience):

• Knowledge of the structure and operations of electric cooperatives.
• Knowledge of the operations of the electric industry and the market fundamentals driving change in the industry.
• Analytical skills to process and interpret complex data sets related to both energy and cybersecurity.
• Research skills to stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and threats in the energy and cybersecurity domains.
• Writing skills for preparing reports, documentation, and other forms of communication.
• Ability to continue learning and staying updated on the latest developments in energy and cybersecurity.
• Ability to apply knowledge and analytical methods to examine how proposed legislation or regulatory changes related to wholesale electricity markets, renewable energy, distributed energy, electric system reliability, energy efficiency, demand response and retail rates will impact rural electric cooperatives and their members.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple projects at various stages of development using effective organization skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lead highly visible multidisciplinary project/program teams or initiatives and provide leadership as the authority in a specialized field.
• Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse membership, employees and/or vendors in a clear and precise manner.  Additionally, the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to provide service excellence by building relationships, being resourceful, responsive and respectful.
• Ability to improvise strategies to analyze new fields of data with short turnaround.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) and to operate various office equipment such as personal computer, copier, printer, fax machine or other job-related equipment.

Essential Physical Requirements:

• The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
• Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
