The Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) is a physician executive under the Chief of Staff. This physician will make clinical recommendations and be actively involved in the decisions that support performance for the Marion IL VA and ensure achievement of the Health Care System's clinical and educational goals. As a full assistant to the Chief of Staff, the DCOS is responsible for fulfilling the role of Acting Chief of Staff in the Chief of Staff's absence and will be located on the Marion IL VA campus.
The DCOS responsibilities include working with the clinical service chiefs and performance measure champions to improve processes to meet the performance measure goals and improve utilization management. The DCOS will serve and provide oversight, on a broad spectrum of medical center committees and working groups.
The incumbent is directly accountable to the Chief of Staff (COS) for clinical program activities and overall compliance to VA, VHA, and VISN-wide policies and procedures.
This position is located at the Department of Veterans Affairs Marion VA Health Care System within VISN 15. The incumbent functions as a member of the senior leadership team and is accountable and responsible to the Chief of Staff for the coordination of activities related to education, research, and clinical staff administrative oversight. The Marion VA Health Care Center is classified as a Level 2 care facility. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary care and in the subspecialties of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine, and rehabilitation.
