Position Summary

Under the leadership of the Chief Nursing Officer, the director of Comprehensive Cancer Center and Outpatient Oncology carries out the strategy and vision for the comprehensive coordination of cancer care and the educational programs for hospital staff, patients and the community that supports Community Hospital’s strategic plan, quality commitment, and values while complying with hospital policies/procedures and applicable laws and standards.

The Director is responsible and accountable for overall management of the assigned departments and service to include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of care/services delivered; ensuring quality programs, patient safety, and a level of customer service that strives to exceed internal and external customer expectations.

The Director develops and mentors a high-performing team for all areas of responsibility through practice of excellent employee relations, attention to employee needs (including fostering effective working relationships training, developing/coaching and evaluating), performance improvement initiatives, a collaborative environment, and initiating personnel actions, when necessary, in accordance with Human Resource policies and organization philosophy.

The Director ensures financial viability by managing both applicable revenue and expenses with attention to cost management, productivity in assigned cost centers, and tactical execution of Lean concepts.

The Director establishes and maintains effective working relationships with medical staff, organizational leaders, and other departments and fosters a collaborative environment with department leadership and staff in order to achieve department goals.

Experience

Must have a minimum of three years of experience in the care of cancer patients (including chemotherapy administration). Three years of management experience in an acute care hospital, health system, comparable health setting. Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills is required.

Education

Master’s degree in nursing or related field required.

Licensure/Certifications

State of CA RN license required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Oversees clinical financial operations in assigned region. Maintains fiscal accountability throughout the development, implementation, and evaluation of annual operating and capital budgets and provides administrative direction in the formulation of goals and strategic plans.
• Serves as leader in assigned market for clinical oversight and development. Will work with other entities in assigned geographical/clinical specialty area to foster enhanced referral patterns and business development opportunities including new and satellite clinics.
• Manages clinical operations in multiple locations.  Responsible for developing consistent practices, standards and performance metrics across locations; consistent with other Children's/UMMC clinics.
• Financial oversight over multi-site and multi-specialty clinics with an added emphasis on productivity, volume.  Liaison between UMMC and partner entities with accountability to multiple systems.
• Maintains accurate, current, and comprehensive statistical data on department operations; prepares and submits routine and special reports to management on department operations, budgetary variance, and recommended operational changes and corrections as needed.
• Monitors reimbursements and controls expenditures to achieve favorable financial outcomes. Identifies opportunities for business development to enhance reimbursement while planning for future trends within the industry including the long-range business plans and proformas to support new program proposals.
• Analyzes and monitors accounts receivables and reimbursement rates and prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.  Collaborates with central billing to fulfill front-end business/billing/reimbursement operations requisites and improve cash collections and flow through interpretation of payer requisites and incorporation of these into operations.
• Directs the day-to-day clinical operations to support the needs of providers, staff, and customers; to meet HR goals and objectives for staff satisfaction, recruitment, and retention.  Develops policies and procedures and monitors quality and quantity of workflow to ensure that work is completed; monitors quality of department operations and recommends changes as needed.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and policies for coding, HIPAA, safety, infection control, OSHA, CLIA, and other agencies as appropriate to the practice.
• Works with physicians to develop scheduling protocols for ambulatory, surgical, procedural, and other service delivery to increase productivity.  Works collaboratively with medical, clinical, and other hospital staff to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery and excellent customer satisfaction. Addresses customer service issues promptly and involves other departments or programs as needed to resolve any issues that may arise.

The Opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Regional Sales Director to lead a sales team for the ICM portfolio.  The RSD will direct strategic programs, market development, and business integrations to maximize the revenue growth and profitability of Abbott’s CRM Products.  This role will be based in Chicago, IL.

What You'll Work On

• In conjunction with field management, identifies, develops and drives key programs for Cardiac products that enhance the success of marketing and sales endeavors.

We are looking for exceptional Board-Certified physicians to join our team as a Medical Strategy Lead to help us expand our CAGT portfolio and advance this dynamic and rapidly expanding area of clinical development.

The CAGT Medical Strategy Lead is a subject matter expert with experience in clinical research and clinical trials who will be a champion for CAGT across IQVIA.

The key remit of the role is drive growth of the IQVIA CAGT portfolio through scientific and clinical expertise. The Medical Strategy Lead will be charged with using his/her clinical, scientific, and operational knowledge to harness the vast IQVIA data and clinical trial resources to develop innovative, data-driven, and patient-centered solutions for CAGT trials.

The Medical Strategy Lead will provide senior clinical and scientific expertise to all IQVIA divisions as requested and will collaborate closely with indication-specific teams to develop integrated strategies for CAGT clinical trials and studies. The Medical Strategy Lead will also be responsible for early engagement business development activities, providing scientific knowledge and expertise to guide sponsors in CAGT development.

As a subject matter expert, the Medical Strategy Lead will drive thought leadership activities including presentations, publications, and interactions with the medical scientific community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accountable and responsible for creating innovative, evidence-based, and patient-centered delivery strategies and solutions for CAGT trials or studies, addressing the specific needs and challenges of each customer.

• In partnership with Indication-Specific Medical Strategy, Operations, Sales, and other functions, responsible for award of strategic and tactical new business to achieve annual Gross New Business targets. Responsible for the inclusion of CAGT elements into proposals.

• Provide scientific, clinical, and operational advice to internal stakeholders developing proposals: this may include, but is not limited to, providing the strategy to protocol design/clinical development plan, mining data to address important clinical questions relevant to the study, reviewing the protocol for scientific/regulatory soundness and feasibility, identification of target site and principal investigator profiles, anticipated patient recruitment, standard of care and competitive landscape.

• Support preparation of customer and bid defense meetings, e.g. training and preparation of the assigned project team; provide specific content; ensure presentation focus and content effectively conveys CAGT strategy. Attends and presents at customer meeting, or bid defense or partnership meetings, as required.

• Participates in strategic business development activities including presentations to prospective clients and professional meetings.

• Maintains awareness of industry pipeline and scientific and business landscape; supports due diligence research of the CAGT landscape

• Leads CAGT thought leadership at IQVIA which may include publications, presentations, and taking a leadership role in scientific activities

REQUIREMENTS:

Scientific and Research Qualifications and Experience

• A physician with experience in Cell and Gene Therapy. A degree from an accredited and internationally recognized school is required

• 5+ years clinical research relevant experience, including hands on operational delivery and/or drug development experience

• Robust and current knowledge of scientific, clinical, regulatory, commercial and competitive landscape in CAGT

• Excellent skills in providing consultation and advice on multiple assignments are required, as well as initiative and flexibility.

• In depth knowledge of, and skill in applying, applicable clinical research regulatory requirements; e.g. Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines

• Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs, have difficult conversations with internal/external stakeholders and customers, negotiate solutions and understand impacts on the overall offering

The Associate Chief of Staff for Specialty Care (ACOSSC) is responsible for the comprehensive management for all medical services provided at the Jonathan M. The Medical Director for Community Care Services (CCS) will have medical oversight and exercise independent judgment in carrying out duties and responsibilities that include but are not limited to programmatic supervision as well as general oversight of care in the community throughout the VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS). Duties to include but not limited to:

• The Physician (Hematology/Oncology) Section Chief actual clinical activity shall be a function of the VAMC Executive Committee of the Medical Staff clinical privileging process and the overall demand for emergency services.
• Provides direct hands-on patient care for patients with Oncologic and Hematologic conditions. Assesses patients for acute illnesses and determine whether patients need to be admitted to the hospital or managed in the outpatient setting. Manages chronic disease.
• Provides clinical guidance over the phone, by Secure Messaging and through the mail. Participates in tele-health with CBOC's and other health care locations to help care for patients remotely. Ensures accurate documentation of medical assessments and observations.
• Supervising and teaching -Hem/Onc fellow, medical residents and students. This will include teaching at affiliated Academic partners. May be required to oversee mid-level practitioners, such as nurse practitioners or physician assistants.
• Is expected to seek academic appointments with one or more or our affiliates, and to participate in activities related to that appointment as deemed needed for professional development and for assistance in teaching.
• Supervise, perform and teach any procedures within the approved scope for and Medical Hem/Onc
• Participates in various Hem/Onc Section and Medical Service conferences as required and Quality Assurance activities
• Engages actively in Research by performing, supervising, acquiring results and presenting and publish those data, in a manner consistent with VA research policies
• Involves oneself in the works of various hospital and affiliated medical school committees
• Is responsible for administrative work for the Section
• Establishes inter-personal and intra-departmental relationships to enhance optimal patient care.
• Demonstrates competent and effective oral and written communication.
• Provides appropriate patient/family member teaching and education; evaluates effectiveness and level of patient/family member understanding of teaching provider.
• Utilizes the CPRS computer software/program for entering and signing of medical orders such as laboratory studies, radiological studies, etc.
• Fulfills Medical Center/Medical Service continuing education requirements
