Reporting to the Senior Veterinary Services Manager, the Associate Veterinarian is responsible for all veterinary and facility-related matters. The activities include running of animal housing and breeding facilities, performing routine veterinary procedures and daily treatment of animals as required, overseeing animal surgery and research procedures and supervising the work of Veterinary staff. He or she is also required to monitor clinical cases daily and animal husbandry practices, as well as developing and implementing policies and initiatives for animal husbandry and facilities to ensure full compliance to National Advisory Committee for Laboratory Animal Research (NACLAR) Guidelines and Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) requirements.

Job requirements:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or Bachelor in Veterinary Science with minimum 3 years' experience as a practicing veterinarian in any of the facilities i.e. animal hospital, companion animal clinic or laboratory animal research facility
• Previous experience in biomedical and/or translational research is an advantage but not necessary
• Able to perform basic animal imaging (X-Ray, Ultrasound), operation of Diagnostic machines (Blood Gas and Biochemistry analyzer) and other standard veterinary diagnostic procedures
• Able to handle small and large animal work and perform shift duties including weekends as needed by the operation
• Computer literate and excellent project management skills
• Strong teamwork orientation and ability to manage cross-functional and institutional relationships are essential
• Ability to interact effectively with scientist, researchers, academicians, administrators and external clients
• Well-honed skills in mentoring to develop and lead subordinate staff

You will be an integral member of the education and training team to plan, co-ordinate and support the administrative operations of the education and training of medical, allied health and nursing staff at NHCS. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external agencies to develop and plan for short-term and long-term strategic plans. The Centre for Population Health Research and Implementation (CPHRI) is a centralised platform for population health research, innovation, implementation and evaluation activities at the SingHealth Regional Health System. You will assist the Research Fellow and Manager by providing secretariat support to various research meetings. You will help with developing the programme evaluation plans, engaging the programme stakeholders and coordinating meetings. You will be responsible for harvesting of tissues, providing histological examination of frozen and paraffin-embedded material, and overseeing the day-to-day tissue harvesting from operation theatres. You will assist the supervisor in research services to the researchers.

Requirements:

- Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a reputable medical school.

- Completed an approved residency in anatomic pathology and experience in clinical pathology will be a bonus.

- At least 3 years of relevant clinical experience in anatomic pathology.

- Laboratory experience in specimen cut-up and histological techniques such as tissue processing, microtomy and staining.

- Experience in immunohistochemistry and molecular biology will be a bonus.

- Good working knowledge of local regulatory requirements.

You will deliver 360-degree recruitment for our stakeholders, whilst supporting and executing best practice throughout recruitment activities.
• The incumbent should also be experienced in local and overseas recruitment and familiar with the employment regulations at the local and foreign country.
