Our client is one of the UK's leading trailer specialist and is seeking a Towbar & Service Technician to join their team.

The main focus of this position is to both fit towbars to customer vehicles and service/repair trailers on their own fleet of vehicles.

The ideal applicant will have previous vehicle workshop experience to some extent. Experience working with towbars and trailers would be a distinct advantage but training will be provided. You must hold a full drivers licence with minimal points as well.

Your day-to-day duties as a Towbar & Service Technician will include the following:

- Undertake daily duties as designated by the Branch Team and Workshop Diary
- Fit towbars to customer vehicles having first checked for marks/scratches ensuring all marks are recorded on the relevant form.
- Keep up to date with any changes to suppliers’ towbar fitting instructions including wiring via the Branch network and use of internet / intranet
- Report any problems or damage relating to customers’ vehicles/property immediately to the Branch Manager/Assistant Manager
- Service and repair the Company’s fleet of hire trailers to an agreed schedule
- Maintain and update full records of each trailer in the Company hire fleet for servicing purposes
- Assemble and modify trailers as required

Provide tier 1/tier 2 desktop support across the organisation and provide support service in line with agreed response times using the internal ticket system.
Ensure that the confidentiality of data and information is secured.

POSITION OBJECTIVES

The Field Technician (or On-site Technician) performs on-site assignments in priority in Southeast Asia region and possibly elsewhere in the world as requested by the Service Leader. He will perform electrical and mechanical operations. The on-site works will be followed administratively and commercially by the Services Leader, following the procedures put in place.

POSITION DETAILS

The Field Technician performs the following tasks:

- Generator overall basic & detailed electrical engineering design development and electrical & instrumentation input to other disciplines.

- Performs maintenance activities on servicing & repair of mechanical & electrical equipment onboard vessels, onsite or in workshop.

- On-site investigations in the event of a breakdown to define the root-cause of the failure, takes remedial action & makes reliability improvements.

- Monitor the serviceability of equipment & facilities & ensure they adhere to safety, housekeeping & environment requirements.

- Digital solution for generator, installation, and commissioning.

- Develop & review risk analysis & procedure.

- Liaise with customers on work schedule & defect findings.

- Immediate response to any urgent request for on-site, on board, or offshore work.

- The writing of his/her on-site reports, and online assistance for troubleshooting,

- Temporary transfer to the repair workshop in the event of on-site works load drop.

- Compliance with travel rules to minimize costs and ensure his/her security,

- The support of the Sales teams for their opportunities.

- Strict compliance with the legal EHS regulations and Nidec EHS rules. He / she must ensure that he/she is trained at the EHS qualification level in accordance with the technical and administrative characteristics of his/her on-site works.

Across your first 6 months, you will travel to and live in Melbourne and go through a structured training and induction program at our national head office with accommodation and expenses accounted for. You will then be able to move back to your home state and join the established team in Arundel.

* As part of the role, you will work closely with Senior Technicians to:
* Work with a cohort of fellow graduates to develop your skills and knowledge across a broad range of CNC machinery
* Assist Senior Technicians to effectively maintain machinery across Melbourne (for 6 months), Gold Coast and Brisbane.
* Conduct root cause analysis, fault-finding and diagnosing efficient solutions to machine breakdowns.
* Execute the installation process from pre-site inspection, overseeing the delivery of machines, assembling the machines through to training end users.
* Act as a key point of contact for the customer, you will represent the brand and communicate with key stakeholders from Production Managers to small business owners.
