The Opportunity
This Systems Engineer V position works out of our Alameda, CA location.
What You’ll Work On
Lead/perform product definition, system architecture, requirements writing, requirements management, requirements analysis, risk analysis, hazard analysis, product test and evaluation, System V & V, and/or design control documentation.
Develop design processes.
Lead, design and conduct system level characterization/verification of complex systems; collect, organize, analyze, and document test results.
Integrate analytical and performance related elements with software, hardware, and electronics system components.
Communicate effectively and participate on cross functional development teams with good negotiating skills to direct multi-disciplinary teams toward solutions.
Responsible for utilizing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
Failure to properly define requirements, integrate all systems, verify/validate requirements could result in product introduction delays and quality issues.
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and performing other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or physical science or related engineering field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
8 years of product development experience
Strong knowledge of defined development process that is consistent with ISO, FDA design control standards or requirements.
Experienced in one or more of the following: Electro-mechanical, software, mathematical, chemical or biochemical technologies as they pertain to the design, integration, evaluation and commercialization of diagnostic systems
Ability to work on many subjects concurrently

What You'll Work On
Learn and improve our existing Go-based health care platforms.
Design and implement services and components utilizing Go for cloud-based platforms.
Developing high-volume, low-latency services for a global health care platform
Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and integrate with APIs that empower users to share and utilize their medical data in partner systems.
Design and implement unit testable code that is highly maintainable.

This individual will work on product improvement actives of critical electrical designs for medical products. Exercises independent judgment in identifying, recommending and implementing significant and/or complex new electrical design improvements to meet existing product and regulatory requirements. Abbott Diabetes Care has a new opening for an Algorithm Synthesis Architecture Engineer, working with the Algorithms and Decision Support group. In this position you will be a key contributor to exciting R&D projects related to next generation product development for our FreeStyle Libre platform of sensor systems.
We are looking for a candidate with strong programming and technical skills, who will excel in a matrixed environment working with algorithm development engineers that synthesize new algorithms and software developers that implement them. This person should ideally be experienced in the process of architecting and writing algorithm simulation code that works with input data formats to emulate candidate algorithm implementations used for the FreeStyle Libre platform of sensor systems, with good understanding of numerical processes utilizing the mathematical models, and extensive experience with software architecture and development. Experience in working with an existing code system in Matlab is a highly relevant background for this position. The candidate will utilize knowledge of numerical methods, mathematics, software architecture, and data analysis in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment. Results are expected to drive product development and clinical insights.

The Systems Engineer VI applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify system software. Has advanced level of knowledge in programming languages such as C++ / C# or Python. Creates, modifies & designs for complex problems and is able to execute all stages of the software development lifecycle. Has good business knowledge or exceptional technical skills. Communicates effectively to both internal teams and external customers. Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

Required Qualifications

The reliability engineer II will conduct No Product Return investigations into quality issues on ADC on market products. This person will collaborate with manufacturing sites and TPMs to access DHR records to perform DHR review. They will also identify and escalate product issues and nonconformances, develop and propose continuous improvement initiatives for complaint handling process including the No Product Return investigation. They should be able to identify, collect, analyze, and manage various types of data in support of investigation for On Market Products and evaluate complaint documentation and investigation information, determine what level of further investigation, if any, is required to determine a possible failure of a device, labeling, or packaging to meet any of its specifications. The ideal candidate should be able to examine and interpret relevant data to quickly develop an analysis plan that will answer key business questions and create value for the organization. The Supplier QA Engineer II supports in the evaluation, selection, approval and maintenance of the division's approved suppliers by performing supplier quality system assessments, monitoring supplier performance, and driving supplier corrective action and/or improvement activities.
What You’ll Work On
Ensures that the division’s approved supplier list is maintained and accurate.
Assesses potential new suppliers and service providers for quality and quality system capabilities through the execution of on-site or desk top audits, and review of other objective evidence, as required.
Communicates division’s approval requirements to supplier and monitors feedback per project timelines.
Performs on-site quality assessments of new suppliers, as required, and ensures appropriate corrective action response to findings.
Ensures Document Control is notified of any changes to supplier statuses, as they relate to the Agile Manufacturer’s Tab.
Ensures that the supplier performs and documents the appropriate engineering approach to activities such as qualification and validation and provides assistance in these efforts, as appropriate.
Leads in the evaluation and approval of supplier requested changes or improvements. This activity may also include the identification and/or approval of a new supplier to provide an alternate material.
Conducts site visits at supplier sites to bring back understanding on how to resolve quality issues (process audits).
Evaluates Exception Reports (ERs) issued for nonconforming supplied material and works with the supplier on the investigation and resolution of root cause issues.
Notifies suppliers of customer complaints related to failures resulting from supplied material and requires investigation and corrective action.
Monitors supplier performance and reports supplier quality trend data. Drives improvement projects, as required, to improve supplier performance.
Assists in the preparation of area metric data for delivery to Sr. Management. Recommends areas for supplier improvement, as appropriate.
Participates with Incoming Quality Control on the development of incoming inspection activities or the reduction of these activities through implementation and maintenance of the Material Certification Program.
Responsible for approving First Article Inspections and/or Golden Samples, as initiated by suppliers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Minimum 6 years of Quality Assurance experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical or other quality managed industries
Preferred Qualifications
Some working knowledge of applicable regulations such as FDA, QSR, ISO, MDD, or IVDD
Some knowledge in the areas of design controls, verification and validation activities, manufacturing practices and statistical techniques.
Some experience in conducting external quality assessments.
Certified Lead Auditor trained
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
