The intern will be trained to provide one-to-one sports therapy and exercise prescriptions with knowledge and explanation of human biomechanics function to new and existing clients. Our clientele are athletes, office professionals and the general population. The intern will be trained and certified in our unique sports massage technique and assessment skills.

The Riverside Health System provides a temporary paid student internship program that creates an opportunity to gain invaluable experience through a combination of mentoring, learning activities, and project work designed to give broad exposure to the inner workings of a health care system. Cornell University Recreational Services is seeking an intern to assist in the management of the Intramural Sports program.  The program features 30 intramural leagues, single-day tournaments, and special events, and has access to multiple sites for indoor and outdoor activities as well as sporting equipment for the campus community to check-out during the year.  The department is overseen by the Robert D. Kennedy ’54 Director of Intramural Sports, along with 4-5 student coordinators and 15-20 intramural student supervisors. The program proudly employs over 75 intramural officials with opportunities for experiential learning and growth.  The Intern will also provide building supervision of Noyes Community Recreation Center during academic breaks and special events and will assist with other special events within Recreational Services and the Department of Athletics.

The goal of the internship is to receive continuing education in campus recreation through immersive, on-site training and application.  This position will provide a more comprehensive knowledge base and is aligned toward the preparation for the field of collegiate campus recreation as a Graduate Assistant (if candidate has completed a Bachelors Degree) or entry-level professional position (if candidate has completed a Masters Degree).

The internship is a full-time, ten-month appointment (August 1st 2024 - May 31st 2025) with a monthly living allowance of $1,750. Professional development opportunities will be provided as budget allows. No relocation expenses or Visa sponsorship are available for this internship.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, Fitness or related field and assurance that this experience will meet internship requirements.
• Demonstrated experience and success in the management of personnel, intramural sports, and/or officiating experience with the ability to work well in a diverse population.

• Maintaining regular contact with staff at DHS/OIA and international liaison staff at DHS components and Partner Organizations as well as with staff of the Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) and the Export Control and Related Border Security Program (EXBS) and the Department of Justice’s International Criminal Investigation Training Assistance Program (ICITAP), both in Washington, DC and overseas.
• Providing coordination of international engagements conducted by the FLETC to include training programs, assistance projects, international students and visitors, and international official travel conducted by FLETC personnel.
• Serving as an expert on cross-cultural matters and political sensitivities related to international students and visitors, coordinating with various FLETC offices regarding special considerations for meals, lodging or other matters that could impact instruction or the visit.
• Identifying potential conflicts between various international students or visitors that may be at FLETC at the same time, advising management on the potential conflict and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Serving as administrator, coordinator, and advisor responsible for managing FLETC training and assistance programs provided to international constituents in a wide range of law enforcement fields.
• Leading lesson plan development teams to develop new lesson plans or modify existing lesson plans for presentation of law enforcement subjects to international constituents to fulfill engagement program goals and objectives based on needs analysis.
