Avon Fire & Rescue Service has a vacancy on our Service Leadership Board for an Assistant Chief Fire Officer. The Service operates within the four Unitary Authorities of Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire and has 900 employees. Our operational area encompasses a broad risk profile.

As a member of the Leadership Board you will be required to devise and lead the implementation of strategies to further improve the quality and effectiveness of services provided, working in collaboration with partner organisations. The role involves engagement with Elected Members, working together to shape the direction of the Service. This requires political awareness and a detailed understanding of community issues.

The successful candidate will be a strong leader with extensive experience across a range of strategic disciplines operating at senior management level. This role requires proven experience of strategic operational command, integrated risk management planning, business and financial planning, performance and people management and partnership working. You should have a proven record of delivering results and improvements. Candidates will be required to evidence well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex operational and organisational issues.

This post requires candidates who welcome the challenge of a broad range of responsibilities and have the ability to make a significant contribution to the work of the Fire Authority and help shape its strategic development. Experience of managing change to improve organisational effectiveness is essential.

The selection process includes the application form which will be shortlisted by a Panel of Elected Members of the Fire Authority. Successful candidates at the shortlisting stage will be invited to complete a critical incident and business continuity exercise and internal and external stakeholder engagement session (likely to be held the week commencing 13 May 2024). Depending on the outcome of the exercise and stakeholder session, successful candidates will be invited to a formal interview and presentation to the Chief Fire Officer, supported by a Panel of the Fire Authority (likely to be Monday 3 June 2024). Duties include but are not limited to;

• Practices as the Assistant Chief of the Sterile Processing Service (SPS).
• Oversight of all supervision, administrative management and direction of SPS.
• Required to have knowledge of sterilization parameters, biological monitoring, preparation and packaging, and assists in implementation and maintaining of NPOSP Directive 1116(2) guidelines, updating processes based on new manufacture guidelines, current and future directives.
• Certified and maintain certification as a Certified Registered Medical Supply Technician
• Oversight and planning, direction, and management of all areas of the SPS department to include Decontamination, Sterile Preparation, Endoscope Reprocessing, and Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) reprocessing for Sterile Processing Service.

• Ensures that work unit activities, productivity and quality indicators are tracked and documented.

• Assists in identifying adequate staffing levels for appropriate coverage to meet budgetary and operational objectives.

The Associate Chief , Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Services serves as a leader with primary oversight of all ambulatory clinical pharmacy programs. The incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining general and specialized clinical pharmacy services that are in line with Medical Center and VISN 7 programs promoting quality care and outcomes to our Veterans. The incumbent has primary oversight of all pharmacy practice residency programs, including possible program director role. The position is responsible for pharmacy' utilization of resources and budget for the ambulatory pharmacy section and for all human resources actions within that section. The incumbent is a licensed pharmacist with advanced knowledge in clinical pharmacy practice. The incumbent is responsible for providing leadership, planning and oversight for all ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy programs at the Ralph H. Johnson, Charleston, SC VA Health Care System. The Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System services more than 75,000 Veterans in a region that includes more than 15,000 square miles. The RHJ VAHCS provides health care services at 7 locations, serving a 21-county area in South Carolina and Georgia, including 6 community-based outpatient clinics in Beaufort, North Charleston, Goose Creek, Hinesville, Myrtle Beach, and Savannah.

Duties but are not limited to:

Strategic planning for ambulatory care pharmacy services with pharmacy leadership and other identified stakeholders.

Oversight of clinical pharmacy provider professional practice, striving for the highest level of outcomes (quality and safety) as well as productivity and efficiency.

Motivates clinical pharmacy provider interest in clinical practice and outcomes research.

Ensure compliance with all Joint Commission, VACO, union contract, EEO regulations, and local standards and guidelines as well as federal and state laws as staffing and resources permit.

Gathers performance improvement statistical information preparing periodic reports on ambulatory and residency pharmacy programs and providing justifications for budgetary, personnel, equipment, and space requirements.

Monitor and maintains appropriate data and prepares reports and correspondence in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.

Plan, organize, assign, and review work of subordinates; this includes scheduling of priorities and personnel for the effective completion of pharmacy programs objectives.

Conduct on-going and annual performance evaluation of subordinates. Counsel employees on performance when necessary and/or recognize high level performance as appropriate.

Ensures all clinical pharmacy providers under his/her purview are involved in projects and programs that seek the highest level of quality, safety, and cost effective care.

Interview applicants for vacancies, determine their suitability for the position, and make recommendations to the Chief, Pharmacy Service.

Maintain effective liaison with all professional and administrative disciplines affecting ambulatory, formulary and residency pharmacy activities.

Represents Pharmacy Service on designated Medical Center committees and potential VISN or National Committees.

Develop, monitor, and maintain effective customer service-oriented pharmacy programs consistent with the Pharmaceutical Care philosophy.

A full-time position has arisen with our company for an Office Support.
Your working hours would be Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm.

The job would entail mainly covering our five offices in Bearsted, Barming, Headcorn, Walderslade and Strood, whilst Funeral Directors are on funerals, annual leave or to just give general support when the offices are busy.

If successful, you will be able to learn the processes for funerals, and when ready, to arrange funerals with bereaved families.
You will also be inputting details into the computer as well as other administration duties that would be needed including any telephone queries.
Full Training will be given.

Be computer literate to a good standard, including Word, Excel and Google.
Smart in appearance although uniform will be supplied after a successful probation period.
