JOB SUMMARY

EDUCATION

Job Description:

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Financial Accounting Manager - Payroll/Accounts Payable within the Finance division, located at our Headquarters facility in Millersville, MD. This position is responsible for managing the Payroll and Accounts Payable Departments. Responsibilities include supervision of employees, processing of payroll, processing of Accounts Payable and reconciling all related accounts. Additionally, this position works closely with Human Resources and Procurement.

Estimated Pay Range:

$74,085 - $97,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related fields from an accredited college or university plus five years accounting experience, including working with computerized accounting systems and one year of supervisory experience. Graduate level Accounting, Finance or Business Administration degree or CPA may be substituted for three years of experience. Previous experience in payroll/accounts payable or related experience is preferred. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.

Description:

• To ensure the efficiency and smooth operations of the outlet; handle and resolve all operational issues and activities.
• To be responsible for the performance of all boutique; achieve the outlet daily sales and up-sell sales targets set by the Operations Manager.
• To constantly monitor the daily sales and assist the Outlet Manager/Senior Outlet Manager to come up with prompt corrective action plan(s) to increase sales in order to meet the budgeted targets should the sales fall below the budgeted amount, and to ensure that the plan(s) is properly executed in the boutique.
• To counsel, resolve conflict, handle grievance and take disciplinary action as and when deemed fit.
• To consistently give and receive feedback constructively.
• To motivate the team to work towards the Company vision.
• To inject fresh ideas for making work processes more efficient.
• Communicate to all staff, including outlet kitchen staff, ensuring that appropriate instructions are channelled downwards including information that might be communicated by the Operations Manager, Area Manager, Senior Outlet Manager, Human Resources Department or Supervisory Board.
• To be responsible for the overall outlet cleanliness, safety, and housekeeping.
• To administer all paperwork effectively including proper filing and timely submission of daily/weekly/monthly reports.
• To hold daily line-up meetings with the team reviewing daily sales, corrective action plans, events, safety issues/concerns, and guest comments.
• Acquire information about methods, procedures, and standards required to contribute to the smooth running of the Business.
• From time to time, will be assigned to specific projects with performance objectives to stretch their potential further.
• Any other appropriate duties and responsibilities as assigned by Superior/Senior Management.

What you will be responsible for:

As a Fund Accounting Client Service Assistant Manager (Hedge Funds), Senior Associate you will

Net Asset Value Operations

• Coordinating workflow and completing detailed preparation/review of Daily/Weekly/Monthly NAV pack, which includes:

  • Review cash and position reconciliations, validate portfolio pricing

  • Income and expense accrual

  • Partner/shareholder allocation calculations

  • Analysis of fund returns and performance in line with current market trends and projections

  • Other Ad Hoc reports as needed

  • Keeping abreast of new accounting standards and ensuing compliance on all accounts within the team

• Implementing on the job training initiatives and ensuring consistent coaching and mentoring of staff.

• Evaluate staffing needs while continually striving for greater efficiencies.

• Ensure all controls and procedures are adhered to as well as make improvements where necessary.

• Assisting the process of client migration, new business/clients onboarding.

• Participate in other special projects or tasks where required.

Client Relationship Management

• Develop and maintain a strong relationship with Investment Managers, brokers, auditors and all other fund participant by tackling queries, delivering NAV related reports, etc. via phone/email.

• Pro-actively identify/ensure understanding of client’s needs and coordinate internally to support the client’s requirements.

• Provide solutions and/or to coordinate support to resolve client issues.

What we value:

• Bachelor Degree or equivalent.  Professional accounting or finance qualification and/or Master’s degree a plus.

• 2-4 years working experience in accounting / financial services related environment.

• Good verbal and written English communication skills are required including report writing skills.

• Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization

• Strong organizational and time management skills – ability to prioritise tasks and perform effectively within strict deadlines.

• Proficient in the use of MS Office tools in particular MS Excel.

• Confident in dealing with difficult situations and be able to create innovative solutions to problems without a high degree of supervision.

• Strong client relationship experience preferred
