An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our excellent neonatal team here at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is one of the biggest and busiest Level 2 units in London, we care for babies born at 27 weeks gestation and take pride in providing the perfect environment in which these tiny neonates can grow, thrive and develop. The unit comprise of total babies of 32 cots ,3 intensive cots, 8 high dependency cots and 21 special care cots and manages an extensive range of medical cases within these culturally-diverse boroughs. .
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated, flexible, hardworking, positive thinking Neonatal Qualified In Speciality Nurse to our team to assist /work as a senior member of the quality and safety team within the women and child health clinical care group, working closely with the Matron and Clinical Lead of the Neonatal unit, Neonatal unit Safety Champion, together with the Quality Assurance, Governance and patient Safety Lead for Women’s health to ensure the team delivers the quality and safety strategy within the Neonatal unit and the wider Maternity /Child Health service.
The post holder will work as a senior member of the quality and safety team within the women and child health clinical care group, working closely with the Matron and Clinical Lead of the Neonatal unit, Neonatal unit Safety Champion, together with the Quality Assurance, Governance and patient Safety Lead for Women’s health to ensure the team delivers the quality and safety strategy within the Neonatal unit and the wider Maternity /Child Health service.
Working collaboratively with the neonatal, maternity and children’s services multidisciplinary teams, they will coordinate and deliver a range of quality and safety activities within the Neonatal unit to ensure that compliance is achieved against Key Performance Indicators, national directive programs such as the Maternity Incentive Scheme year 5 and quality improvement projects to reduce poor neonatal outcomes. This includes those relating to both the Neonatal unit and Neonatal unit/Maternity service jointly.
The post holder will have a key role in the implementation of the Clinical Group and Trust Quality and Safety commitments. The post holder will ensure communication and learning is shared with regards to clinical investigations, including participating in Neonatal/Maternity/Child Health meetings, unit meetings to co-ordinate investigations and investigating officers for all patient safety incidents. This will include Red and Serious Incidents, the monitoring of serious incident actions and complaint actions.
Under the leadership of our Chair Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, we provide care for the residents of three of the most diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.
Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.
As we recover from Covid-19, we’re proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change.
We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
