The Radiology Department delivers high quality imaging across a range of modalities using a patient centred approach. The successful candidate would be expected to work as part of a team based at one of the Trust main sites, providing imaging across a range of modalities including intraoperative screening. They would also be expected to participate in the out of hours service within their base hospital, which requires a commitment to working autonomously within a busy environment. There would be a requirement to operate a wide range of modalities once appropriate training has been completed.
Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are essential and knowledge of the current radiation legislation is required.

Ensure that all x-ray examinations taken in the x-ray suites are recorded on CRIS. Train non radiographer x-ray operators in the use of EPIC, PACS, iDixel and ROMEXIS as necessary. Oversee the phosphor plate processing area. Be responsible for and maintain the X-ray suite area including the dental and panoramic X-ray equipment, ensuring safe working practices and ensuring routine servicing is carried out. Be responsible for stock control and liaise with the nurses in relation to the ordering of phosphor plates and wrappers. Be responsible for carrying out the QA of phosphor plates Liaise with the Medical Physics Department as and when equipment safety testing is required. Act in accordance with the Local Rules in the satellites and at St Thomas Dental Centre and comply with all Ionising Radiation Regulations. Be responsible for Control of Infection measures within the X-ray suite area and to ensure that all students comply with the Control of Infection Policy. Be responsible for Quality Control and Quality Assurance of radiographs taken in the X-ray suit. Act as an IR(ME)R operator as defined in Department protocols. The duties that the post holder will be expected to perform may vary between St Thomas Dental Centre and Guys Dental Hospital, dependent on service needs. We are currently inviting applications from enthusiastic radiographers for a permanent diagnostic rotational CT/MRI radiographer post (band 6) for our Cavendish Square site in Central London. The successful candidate would ideally have postgraduate experience in cross-sectional imaging and some experience of imaging oncology patients, although training can be provided if required. X-ray skills are desirable as occasionally we have patients who require x-ray imaging, however the radiographer team are based within CT and MRI and attend x-ray only when required which is relatively infrequent. Radiographers with a PGC in mammography are also welcome to apply however this is not essential.

The successful candidate should be a highly motivated radiographer with good communication skills, who is keen to contribute positively to the imaging service at Cavendish Square.

The post holder will be expected to be flexible in their approach as the department will operate between 7.30am to 8pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 8am -6pm.

The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in the provision of an efficient and effective diagnostic imaging service. The post holder will liaise with the clinicians caring for a patient, other departments and other departmental staff within the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be required to rotate between CT, MRI, x-ray and (where appropriate) mammography.

While working within an oncological environment the post holder will be required to interact directly with terminally ill patients as well as being exposed at times to distressing and emotional situations. Patient presentation will include the unconscious, uncooperative, incapacitated, incompetent, distressed, disorientated, and those with physical and mental disabilities. The post holder will have responsibility for the timely, efficient and courteous provision of imaging services within the available resources.

The post holder will be expected to be flexible in their approach to the department and service and will be required to be flexible and work at our other locations as and when required; including but not limited to RMH Cavendish Square and our Chelsea and Sutton sites. Participation in the on-call provision is not expected.

• To ensure protocols and standards are maintained and improved to produce best diagnostic information and patient care.
• To perform imaging examinations as an operator under the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017.
