JOB TITLE: Senior Data Engineer
SALARY: £68,202 - £75,780
LOCATION: Edinburgh
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site

As a Data Engineer within the Longstanding Technology Enablers Lab, you'll play a key role in facilitating and resolving the data requirements of the Lab and key Programmes working alongside the wider team of Engineers, Product Owners, Customer Journey Managers and colleagues in the business. Here’s where you’ll make a difference –
- You'll provide critical data expertise to assist pre-processing and gather data, help to represent data using various reporting, visualisation tools investigating and analysing data to recommend and support solutions for customers.
- You'll help to develop, test and maintain reusable data pipelines that transform data for insight and support the governance and quality of it.
- You’ll be enthusiastic for problem solving and analysis, able to communicate well and have a passion for designing and developing efficient, re-usable assets and capabilities to benefit our customers.

What you’ll need
- A strong understanding of relational databases like SQL Server and DB2 along with well developed SQL skills, data analysis and mapping methodologies, and associated tools
- Experience of large scale data migrations and the process to extract, transform and load
- Ability in analysing data requirements and modelling into useful reports and visualisations
- Hands on experience of Data Governance and Quality tools
- An improvement driven approach to data engineering with a passion for enhancing the way we deliver
- A background of working within an agile working environment and Scrum or Kanban.
- Experience of supporting and coaching other team members
And any experience of these would be really useful
- Insurance, Pensions and Investments domain awareness
- Knowledge or experience using Collibra and Ataccama
