• Assist the Chief Engineer to oversees the engineering/maintenance operations of the hotel.

• Be responsible to ensure that all the engineering and maintenance activities of the hotel are conducted to the highest professional standards at all times, with guest comfort and safety being the highest priority.

• Assist the Chief Engineer in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans.

• Assist the Chief Engineer to develop preventive maintenance programs to ensure the facility is maintained and in service for our guests (example: lighting, refrigeration, heating, air-conditioning, water treatment systems, and pools)

• Assist the Chief Engineer to coordinate projects with general contractor and sub-contractor, and ensure quality work is performed cost-effectively

• Assist Chief Engineer to develop, implement and manage energy conservation programs for the property to minimise expenses

• Educate and train all engineering colleagues in compliance with governmental and safety regulations

• Ensure the team is properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties

• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments

• Communicate with all hotel department heads to stay informed of maintenance needs and ensure timely responses to requests.

What We Need From You

• Certified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

• Five years operating experience in a hotel engineering department

• Minimum of 5 years experience in a supervisory position in a hotel engineering department or a related field with a proven record of accomplishment or success.

• Experience in hotel renovation is an advantage

• Advanced knowledge of building management/engineering

• Highly committed to delivering a high level of guests experience

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English, particularly to deal effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.

We are looking for an Engineering head who ensures that our hotel’s maintenance planning and programs are executed smoothly. You will be responsible for the maintenance and priority planning and acts as an advisor to the General Manager, you are the project leader of large-scale projects (conversions, renovations, equipment replacement, etc.). Most importantly you will be responsible for the management and assurance of safety aspects within the hotel for our guests and employees.

Your main tasks:

• Project leader of large scale projects;
• Execute, manage and coordinate proposals, projects and quotations;
• Manage and review maintenance budgets;
• Drawing up work schedules, assigning work, giving instructions on and the method of approach where necessary;
• Calling in outside firms for troubleshooting and repairs to lifts, air conditioning, refrigeration, sprinkler system, etc.;
• Maintaining key data on employees and contractors;
• Managing local certificates (lift approval, fire extinguishing equipment, etc.);
• Mapping technical condition of facilities, reviewing malfunction reports, determining the nature and extent of work to be carried out, scheduling overdue maintenance on the current planning/work list;
• Taking or having taken necessary safety measures, ensuring availability of necessary permits, etc. developing plans into a concrete project proposal in terms of time, money, information, organization, and quality;
• Maintaining environmental and energy reports, drawing files, malfunction reports, etc.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the successful incumbent will provide leadership in efficient maintenance and project management covering a range of project requirements from modification, maintenance, refurbishment and coordinating engineering assessments.

Responsibilities include - Plan, budget, schedule, implement and monitor overall facilities, building and environmental related developments to align with business objectives and ensure operational effectiveness in terms of cost, time, safety and quality.

Responsible for establishing tender specifications, evaluation of tenders and appointment of contractors.

To monitor and report progress of project to Management, perform quality control inspections to ensure adherence to contractual requirements and industry standards, and seek justification/approval for deviation in design and expenditure.

To oversee overall maintenance and engineering operations, verify all routine maintenance, repairs and replacements. To establish preventive and predictive maintenance systems and procedures.

You must be familiar with the local authorities' approval procedures, obtain and secure all necessary planning and technical approvals, scrutinize contract documents and drawings.

You have to work closely with the operations to review maintenance contracts and expenditure procurement contracts and outsourced contracts.

You should possess a Polytechnic Diploma in Electrical & Electronics/Aircon/M&E with minimum 10 years experience in Hotel/Building Facility Management.

You should have knowledge of Electrical/Aircon/Plumbing/

Carpentry/Painting and Hotel operations.
