This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a forward-thinking, major subcontractor. The role will see you working on a range of Residential Groundworks projects across the Northwest.

On each project you will be given the chance to work with an established team, reporting into a Commercial Manager and supported by those around you. Working on the commercial aspects of the project you will be working closely with the client and sub-contractors.

This is a perfect role for someone from a residential groundworks/civils background, ideally with a good-sized groundworks contractor.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Quantity Surveying, in addition to a proven commercial track-record in a similar environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Completing cost management of the project from inception to hand over
* Working off pre-construction documents to prepare cost plans and measurements
* Managing clients expectations delivering results
* Work with external parties including architects and engineers to ensure project specifications are understood
* Working closely with Sub-Contractors
* Ensure any changes to design and understood and coats are kept up-to-date
* Managing quantities from drawings
* Managing an array of sub-contractors ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget
Experience:

* BSC Degree in Quantity Surveying

Your new role

Senior Quantity Surveyor Role

Owing to the start up of new projects they have a requirement for an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor with expertise in the financial delivery of residential projects of varying size and complexity. Reporting to the Commercial Manager you your duties will include:

• Strive to optimise the profitability of the Contracts.
• Ensure that the Contracts achieve the optimum cashflow position.
• Completion and compliance with required contract documentation including Performance Bonds, Parent Company Guarantees and Warranties.
• Ensure that all contract documentation and sub-contract documentation is completed and stored centrally.
• Presenting and agreeing the external valuation with the Client's Representative.
• Pricing and agreeing variations with the Client's Representative.
• Prepare and manage key and large risk subcontract accounts from inception to final accounts.
• Subcontract procurement strategy and implementation.
• Ensure the procurement of sub-contractors is in line with the Business Management System and that the packages cover the scope of the works.
• Check and ensure compliance and issuing of timely Payment and Pay less notices to Subcontractors.
• Preparing monthly CVR & VCA reports for presentation to the Business Unit Management.
• Monitoring risk and opportunity schedules and managing risk from Commencement to Completion.
• Contribute to management of life of site cost & revenue forecasts across multi-phase developments.
• As part of project team, help shape long term delivery strategy for project
• Provide input and cost and value engineering advice throughout the design life of the scheme and attend design team meetings.
• Managing and undertake the personal development reviews of associated surveying resources, including training.
• Ensure a proactive approach to dispute avoidance

Skills and Experience required

The successful candidate must have previous experience managing budgets on multiple volume housing developments from inception through to completion. Additional skills required:

• Demonstrable strong account management and commercial experience.
• Strong team player, with the entrepreneurial ability to operate and excel in a changing on- site environment.
• Well-developed analytical, oral and presentation / communication skills.
• Degree qualified preferable.
• Professional membership of MCIOB or RICS preferable.
• Strong in-depth knowledge of groundworks, roads and sewers.
• Training of and understanding of COINs
• Training and understanding of 4p (viewpoint)

The role - Senior Quantity Surveyor

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be heading up a large £50m new build hotel and fit out project in Stockport. You will be reporting into the Commercial Manager and will be responsible for managing and supporting the commercial team with the following duties:

• Preparation of bills and/or schedules for quantities of materials, labour and services required in the construction and refurbishment of building works in relation to both Estimating and Post contract duties.
• Cost reporting.
• Preparation and valuation of progress and submission to client.
• Sub-contract procurement including sending out enquiries, collating prices, negotiation, order placement.
• Sub-contract valuations and payments in connection with any contract.
• Maximise cash flow through timely preparation of valuations, submission of invoices and receipt of payment.
• Manage prompt preparation and settlement of final accounts, including variations, claims and disputes.
• Identify, manage, reduce, and drive out unnecessary costs and inefficient activities.
• Monitor and manage subcontract costs to ensure that the project meets and/or exceeds targets.
• Monitor resources and costs to ensure that the project meets and / or exceeds targets, including but not limited to the scheduling of labour resources.
• Mentoring of Junior Staff

• A degree/equivalent qualification (HNC/HND).

Your new role
As one of the stakeholders within the Anglian Water framework, they provide both design and construction services across the whole of Anglian Water's region, which is the largest by geographic area in the UK, stretching across Lincolnshire and East Anglia. They are now looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team, reporting into the Commercial Manager for the commercial and cost management of a project or programme of projects from inception through to close out. You will be commercially conscious to the delivery team, providing commercial support to both the delivery management and on-site delivery teams.
Responsibility to ensure that operations are carried out to control costs, maximising value, minimising future liabilities and maintaining the required standard of quality and safety.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, some of the key duties include:

• Assist the programme area estimating team to ensure robust estimates are provided that align to scope and make allowance for risks and opportunities including any necessary analysis, transfer of data to procurement system and cost base.

• Accurate live forecasting taking into account the programme and reporting in accordance with the respective work breakdown structure / cost breakdown structure.
• Actual costs are monitored and assessed against baseline, value of work done, solution cost progress, affordability challenges and final outturn calculations, reporting either weekly or otherwise as agreed with the Commercial Manager.
• Provide reports on actual costs vs. estimate & identifying underlying reasons for any variance & resolutions, in particular highlight, challenge & resolve variance to latest plans.
• Work with the delivery team to assist with project and programme risk mitigation plans are considered, put in place and administered.
• Ensure that the Framework Contract is properly administered, including timely issue of early warnings.
• Any inadmissible costs are not included within the project/programme of project costs.
• Final accounts are prepared timely and accurately.

You will be carrying out tasks such as being responsible for individual contractor accounts and regular reports and analysis. You will also provide commercial insight and support to ensure financial efficiency is achieved.

The Role:

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following;

• Oversee a team of Quantity Surveyor's
• Prepare and dispatch tender packages to subcontractors
• Set up job files and all necessary records
