If you are an experienced Human Resources professional with an appreciation for the arts and education, Academy of Art University encourages you to apply for our Senior Human Resources Business Partner. As the Senior Human Resources Business Partner at ArtU, you will establish credibility as a strategic partner, playing a consultative role to employees, managers and leaders. You will be the subject matter expert and serve as a consultant on a wide variety of Human Resources related issues. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of eight years of progressive professional HR experience with at least three years of experience managing employee relations in a strategic HR Business Partner role. The desire to work in a fast paced environment as well as the ability to identify opportunities and align partnerships with the organization's goals are the skills the Senior HRBP will possess.
Responsibilities:
- Understand the business to ensure efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the human resources department working within a team environment; delivering superior quality of work and customer service
- Manage and enhance employee relations by developing and implementing strategies that promote effective communication, conflict resolution, and a culture of collaboration.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including leadership to address employee concerns, conduct investigations, and ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and best practices
- Manage complex and difficult HR projects cross-functionally and collaborate and make recommendations to HR Leadership to resolve issues in a timely manner
- Actively identify gaps in human resources and management practices and propose and implement change necessary to cover risk
- Manage employee relations matters by performing initial intake of employee complaints, conducting meetings and investigations, writing and delivering disciplinary notices, documenting incidents and meetings, performing employee coaching and feedback sessions, closure notifications and processing employment terminations and conducting termination meetings.
- Assist Director with developing, implementing and maintaining in-house management training programs that address University needs across departments and supports with the growth and development of employees and management staff.
- Identify and support with management of all multi-state employee leaves of absences and accommodations, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, SF Paid Parental Leave, ADA, time off without pay, USERRA, FFWO, etc.; in collaboration with the Lead Human Resources Generalist
- Advise and interpret HR policies and procedures for management and employees
- Ensure employees are properly informed of their rights, company policies and procedures in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- At least 8 years of progressive professional HR experience with at least 3 years of experience managing employee relations in a strategic HR Business Partner role.
- Candidates that are passionate about customer service, people management, acting as a thought partner building strong partnerships with management and executive teams. You are able to anticipate and understand the needs of others and communicate with empathy and patience.
- Strong HR knowledge is a must. You will need a solid understanding of state and federal laws concerning employee relations with the ability to apply them quickly and appropriately.
- Solutions-oriented business approach. You are able to identify potential issues and implement solutions that benefit both short and long-term organizational objectives.
- A strategic mindset! You are able to see the forest through the trees and align objectives with organizational goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to details. You must be able to effectively communicate with influence and effectively coach employees of all levels in the organization.
- Strong ability to handle complex confidential information with discretion and maturity.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Ability to thrive in a remote work environment working independently on routine and adaptability to changing business requirements.
- A Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field is required.

Compensation:
$80,000.00 - $90,000.00; based on experience & location. This is a remote role.
