Nothando - Senior Social Worker "I have been a Senior in the Learning Disability & Autism Team West for the last 15 months. I have grown and developed as an individual and also as a Social Work practitioner during this time. The team has so much diversity, variety, expertise and shared knowledge to offer. There is a culture of learning and Continued Professional Development encouraged. We have a mix of students and longstanding team members who have been there more than 10 years. We have had a number of Newly Qualified Workers, Students on Frontline, ASYE and other placements successfully complete their training with us. Within the Team we have Best Interest Assessors, Practice Educators, and special interests in All Age Continuing Health Care, "Thinking Ahead" and "Ageing Well" amongst others. The adults we work with and their challenges are unique. No two cases or days are the same. The team is supportive, creative, and fun to be a part of. We always put the adults that we work with first and help each other get through difficulties. Our managers are very in tune with our cases, and with our day to day practice, and have created a culture of learning and development within the team. There is a welcome and "open door" approach. The Learning Disability & Autism Team is one of the specialist teams in Adult Social Work and it presents with different pressures, opportunities and rewards. I would encourage anyone thinking about joining us to come along and be part of a great team."
