The critical care nursing workforce typically experiences higher rates of turnover than other groups and there is a greater need for post registration education, meaning that achieving and retaining a skilled and knowledgeable workforce can be challenging. Your role will be to explore how we can best work with providers in the north west, to support them to increase the number of nurses accessing recognised post registration qualifications in critical care training and to sustain these levels. Recommendations are that between 50 and 70% of the critical nursing workforce should have recognised post registration training, and whilst some services achieve this, many others do not.
