Lead the Incident Management, Problem Management and Disaster Recovery functions.

The successful candidate will be part of the Operations Response Group, leading the Incident Management, Problem Management and Disaster Recovery functions.

In addition, the VISN Care Coordination, Program Director keeps VISN leadership appraised of issues, incidents, and overall status of compliance with VHA guidance documents. He/she oversees the scheduling of mandated site visits and ensures the field is notified of changes in guidance as they occur. When incidents occur, he/she may be called upon to represent the VISN at national level meetings to review the incidents. Promoting a Culture of Safety and High Reliability to reduce the risk of harm to Veterans that may occur with Care Coordination.

The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) is seeking an exceptional physician-candidate for the position of Chief, Neurology Care Line. The Chief will provide leadership of a large VA-based department which includes inpatient care with particular strength in medical education, clinical reasoning, quality improvement, and health services research. The Chief provides leadership and direction to the educational and research missions within the Neurology Care Line and should be qualified for appointment at the associate or full professor level at the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM).

Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks, including but not limited to:

- Directs, manages, and coordinates the planning and implementation of VA Neurology Care Line.
- Develops or directs the development of performance standards; evaluates the performance of key supervisors, and reviews the evaluations made by subordinate supervisors or other employees.
- Responsible for budget development and execution.
- Exercises administrative, programmatic, clinical, and academic oversight.
- Serves as the principal spokesperson and advocate for Neurology Care Line.
- Coordinates and integrates clinical and administrative aspects of the programs into a comprehensive package of services.
- Directs patient care needs assessments; identifies gaps in services and supports program development to meet those needs.
-Develops short- and long-range goals and objectives.
- Ensures that there is compliance with all Joint Commission and other regulatory body functions and standards that are applicable.
- Oversees, develops, coordinates, and evaluates academic programs affiliated with Neurology Care Line and serves as liaison with the sponsoring institutions for such programs.
- Participates in facility programs designed to enhance and improve the delivery of patient care services, such as Root Cause Analysis and Systems Redesign teams.
- Develops program review and evaluation to ensure patient satisfaction dimensions of care and performance measures are achieved and continuously evaluated, as demonstrated by performance measures and wait times.
- Exhibits leadership in initiating changes in patient care programs based on current concepts and findings from research and studies.
- Recruits, trains, supervises, and retains the highest quality of staff, and program support staff, as appropriate.
- Actively promotes and effectively manages a culturally diverse workforce.
-Practices, and supports all existing safety practices relevant to this position, contributing to and keeping abreast of new safety practices as they are developed.
